My daughter and I had a great stay…until the tiny biting bugs got In Our Dodge Ram Promaster and we couldn’t get them out. We had to spray our bedding down w bug spray but it didn’t work so then we had to bag all the bedding into trash bags and sleep on the mattress without blankets. We couldn’t open the vents or the bugs would come in so we slept with all the windows/vents closed and inhaled the bug spray all night. We both woke up after a fitful night of non sleep all swollen from the chemicals. Besides that it was the best RV park ever! A bit crowded but we had a nice spots that was at the end near the beach backed up to a fence so it felt fairly private. The bathhouse was nice. A lot of private showers. Just don’t try to use them at peak time before dinner because it will be busy and u will have to wait for one.
My daughter and I stayed one night in our Dodge Ram Promaster. The bathhouses were busy so we walked over to the tent camping area and used their bathhouses. From our spot it was actually a closer walk. They said it was a short walk to the beach but it took us 20 minutes. We rode the tram back because it was such a long walk. It would have better to ride a bike there, which was what most people did. Overall a nice park with cozy lots.
Be prepared for an encyclopedia of reading all the rules. I found the yurts and cabins to be way too close together for any type of privacy. Maybe they have it set up that way for big groups to come in at once? But it was so noisy with kids and dogs echoing in the valley, and we could even hear the neighboring cabins talking while sitting around their campfire. I suppose if I was there with a group of close friends it would be okay but it seems with all the land they have that they could have given each person more privacy in their spaces. One more thing that may help is we hiked all of the trails and noticed in several places there were 3-4 inch protrusions where small trees where cut down but not cut all the way back to the ground and I almost sprained my ankle. They all did spray paint some of the roots and had the trails nice and cleared but the exposed ends of the small trees throughout the trail are a real hazard. I’m super fit and have good eyesight and hike a lot so I was able to dodge many of them but I’m sure the kids and the older adults may get hurt. Other than the close proximity of the cabins/yurts/RVs and the exposed tree stubs I think they have a great concept (for large group events) and we enjoyed our stay. One more thing the shower handle falls off in the small yurt.
Open only to campers and the rest of the entire park, including trails, are closed to the public except for Sunday’s and Monday’s because they are doing Covid Vaccinations there Tues thru Sat. This sucks.
We enjoyed our 2 nights at Boyd’s. We stayed in a tent site on the water with our camper van. If we had chosen a tent site on the water with elec/water then it would have been a bit bigger…but still tight. If you park just right and place your tent just so then you can get more privacy but not much more. The bathhouses were nice and it was great to have laundry and a cute town nearby. The ‘One Love’ Food Truck about .5 miles away made the whole experience super great. Best Food Truck ever! There is a local gym walking distance away too. Lots to do and a short drive to Key West. The price was a bit high for the squeezed in spaces but worth it to us for the location and amenities.
We stayed in a campervan and upon arrival saw 4 campsites packed together a d the entire field was open which had many other campsites. We drove into camp site 20 instead of our reserved site 2. There was no body working there so I guess switching campsites was okay. I did call and let them know o. Their answering machine that I was taking site 20 instead. It didn’t make sense to be crammed together. Anyway, it was a great stay for 4 days with deer roaming the campground. We biked (very sandy) and hiked. Only a portapotty . No other amenities. The generator of one of the campers was annoying because we were in the wilderness. I guess they needed their heat, as it did get down to 30 degrees in Feb. So realize that because there is no power that some people may be using noisy generators.
Amazing mountain biking right out gate of the campground. The bathrooms are clean and sterilized every day. Two big private showers but only one small sink and small mirror for drying my hair after the shower. Ole nut of space and privacy between campsites. We stayed in #6. Checking in was wierd because of you show up late the gate is locked and I have no idea how a person is supposed to get in if they come in late
Can’t beat the biking, hiking and water sports! Clean and nice showers. Steps from biking. We stayed at a site right on the water. Not super private but the area and activities make up for the lack of privacy. And whatever you do make sure you visit the Clinch River Brewery just a short drive away.
Very nice bathrooms. The sites aren’t the most private we’ve ever stayed at, but the mountain biking was so much fun we didn’t care! Hiking and biking was an A+. Great place for families because of the surrounding wooded activities.
We stayed at the main area but not much space or privacy so we put up a tent out side our door, but then moved to the tent camping site area the second night which was more secluded and private, but still close to the showers/bath house. So much hiking and a cool view of the dam is all within walking distance. Nice bath rooms and showers too.
Clean bathrooms. Nice setting. Great hiking and Mtn biking on site. It is kind of off the beaten path but we did stop at a gas station fairly close by with a little restaurant in the back that was all a retro backwoods trippy kind of place. The sites are semi private, we especially liked the ones that back up to a large field.
This campground is small and no bathrooms, but it is directly on the Creeper so that makes up for it! Great location also because it is close to restaurants and the center of the small town. It does have water and power and a picnic table. Being right on a little river is great too. Gave it 4 stars because no bathrooms/showers.
We stayed here while visiting our daughter in Reston. Checked out the Mtn biking trails, skateboard park, Great Falls National Park is only a few miles away. Also went golfing at Top Golf. Super clean restrooms. If u you don’t like light pollution don’t stay near the skateboard park side of the campground the lights are crazy there! Bottom line: Great location with tons to do!
