Nice spot on the Chickahominy

Nice campground right on the river. There's even a pool in the summer. Inside tip. There is a dock down by the boat ramp. It says no fishing. Wait until dark and ignore the sign. There's a light down there that draws the insects. The fish are everywhere. Not big fish, but fish. Bring a light fly rod and enjoy.

Great for horse people

Not bad. It's connected to an equestrian center. If horses are your thing it's perfect. 2 miles from LSU, 3 miles from Baton Rouge, biking trails along Mississippi River levee. Water and electric, dump station, and a bathhouse. The bad… not many trees or wildlife other than horses. The bathhouse could use some work.

Great for horses

This park has two camping loops. 1 is on a small lake and the other is through the woods. Some sites are a bit slanted which can make leveling a pain, but overall the sites are nice. They offer horse stalls, nice riding trails, and a show ring. I've also seen some pretty big bass pulled out of the lake.

Must have been a site to see

A lot of the amenities were built by the CCC, but many have not been maintained. The sites are pretty close together and some are not suitable for a camper over 24'. The cleanliness of the bathhouses depends on the host. I have seen very good and also pretty gross. This place is nicer than a lot of the private campgrounds around this area and has a lot of potential if they can get the funding.

Nicest campground on Clark's Hill Lake

I've stayed here on multiple occasions. The Rangers and facilities are great. Every site is on the water and the sites are far enough apart to provide privacy. This is my favorite park in the SC park system.
