A nice getaway

The lake itself is worth it, and the pine grove with the trail was pleasant, but the sites were cramped and unlevel and the map was difficult to read and not to scale. We’ll be back, but we know what to expect

Good if you’ve done some homework

The lake views and ample tree coverage on most sites make me want to give this place 4-5 stars; we had a great time and will be back.

Had we not been with others though and only at our campsite, I’d probably rate it 2 stars. Many of the sites are crowded next to each other and the pads can be very unlevel; I had my small trailer up 5 leveling blocks on one side to make it level. Using our freshwater tank wasn’t a big deal, but the reservation website didn’t make that clear, so we were expecting water hookups. Also, the map wasn’t to scale, so our space had nearly no yard while the other one next to us had twice the normal size.

The location on the lake is great, the pines are gorgeous, but you need to do some research.

So bad

Booked a 2 night stay here but left after 30 minutes and asked for a refund. Sites on the water on the west loop were unkept and overgrown, the access to the lake was difficult with all the boulders, biting sand fleas everywhere, no mentioning of needing to share water access with your neighboring spot and the spigots being several hose lengths away, narrow and cracked concrete pads and to top it off, a diseased spotted fawn roaming around helplessly. The attendant was as helpful as she found be, but there was no helping all those issues.

A Treat

Happened upon this state park on a whim when our other campground (Belle Starr) was so bad we just couldn't stay there. Eufala State Park was the perfect place for our two small kids and us: easy access to the water, clean facilities, and caring staff. Jerry, the campground manager, was so helpful: cleaning or sites even though we were last minute renters, offering firewood, and making ice deliveries to anyone each evening. The nature center was a fun surprise, and the staffer was enthusiastic and friendly. There are many other things to do that we will add to our list for next time.
