Good access to Carlsbad with the basics

Campsites were fine.

Bathrooms were limited. Four toilet/shower combo rooms for the whole site. Could use some TLC in the bathrooms.

Ok place to access Big Bend

Fair number of sites for every kind of travel - RV, trailers, vans, tents.

Wifi was very poor. Best you could do were some texts and email while sitting at the store. No cell access at the RV site.

Bathrooms were very limited (3 toilets, 2 showers for men and women). Desperately need to updated and they got a lot of use while we were there.

Very cool museum about Hallie Stillwell.

Great dispersed camping

Wide open space to pick your spot next to a Juniper or two.

Hardly anyone here, just the coyotes howling. Appreciated access to a pit toilet.

Good for an overnight

We were able to overnight in the parking lot next to the lake which was nice. There were no “rules” so generators were running all night which was a bummer.

Nice wooded camping

We really liked the dark, quiet camping on the B loop on a Sunday night. Great starting point for a morning run.

Amazing views, good amenities

Many campsite have amazing views of the valley or the monument. Many sites had really unlevel spaces. Creative leveling required. Not designed for big rigs or 5th wheels. Nice canyon rim hikes right from the campsite.

Really nice, if this is what you are looking for

Parking lot type RV park. Bathrooms and showers were nice and new. Pool, hot tub. Walking distance to Ice cream, bagels and variety of food.

Nice Campsites in trees

Good state park out in the middle of the range lands. Campground in the trees along side boating and swimming reservoir

Campground living

This is a good campground and you know you are in a campground. Not much hides you from anything else. But it has wide views in all directions. Nice running/hiking path connects to the campground. Easy access to Saguaro NP.

Off the beaten path

Loved being able to soak in a couple nice little pools. Spots were fine. Nothing fancy. The soaking and the night sky is the draw.

Nice campground

Still early season so pretty quiet. Two loops were open but plenty of spaces open. Easy reservation kiosk for CC only.

Beautiful sites. The campground is up on the high part of Bandelier. Nice hike from up at the campground out to view down into the valley plus lots of other hiking from up there.

Awesome view

We loved this campground. Hosts greeted us immediately and shared information about the park and hikes since the visitor center was closed. Also lent us a sled to use at White Sands (saving $20 from buying a sled at the park).

Amazing view, especially for sunset. Perfect for hiking up into Dog Canyon.

Shower was still closed from covid which was a stinky bummer but not the end of the world.

Good spot to launch

It’s just a parking lot but it made it really convenient to hike Guadalupe Peak and explore a bit of the park by foot.

Spots open up randomly during the day.

There is no reserved marker on the parking/camping spots. So it feels like you shouldn’t leave your spot to drive somewhere else or someone else might take it. But we saw folks use cones to indicate a spot was taken and volunteers monitored available spots during the day.

Does the job

Nice big flat spot with plenty of room and a great view. Good number of folks there. If they added a pit toilet, it would be perfect.
