Beautiful perch above Ouray

Gorgeous setting perched above the town of Ouray. Mostly tent camping although pop up tent-trailers can fit in the campsite. The campground books up quickly due to it's stunning views and location so plan early. There's only a very small grocery store in Ouray so stock up with necessary items in Montrose or Ridgeway. Pit toilets were clean, well-maintained and plentiful. There was a bear in the campground so absolutely no food in tents & the campground host said the bear recognizes coolers in cars so cover coolers with other items. Better yet, eat in town at the super fun rooftop bar at the Ouray Brewery. Can't say enough about this special gem! The campground hosts sell bundles of firewood for I think $7/bundle but we needed to dig out the accumulated ash in the firepit to get the fire to light so consider bringing a small shovel. There is potable water but no showers or sinks.

Perfect place to camp prior to Lodore put-in

19 tent & RV sites. One site is ADA accessible. A bit buggy so bring the bug spray. This is the perfect place to stay prior to your Gates of Lodore river trip put in. No cell service that I remember & it's a long drive from "civilization" so make sure your car is filled with gas, is in good repair & that you have all the items you'd need for your trip. Vault toilets & water spiggot are great to have to fill up water jugs prior to rafting. No electric, sewer or water hook ups for RVs. No reservations so it's 1st come, 1st served. They have bear proof containers for anything with a scent. No trash containers so pack everything out. Only cash & checks accepted so bring $10 (although discounts for Seniors & when water is not available at the campsite).

Gorgeous Rocky Mtn location alongside a creek.

Such a beautiful campsite that I hesitate to even review to as it will bring more attention. Make sure to explore the town of Marble. Situated along the Crystal River, I don't think I've ever enjoyed a campsite more! Just a stunning location. Although this site didn't have showers when I was there, I drove down the street to a nearby campsite (I believe in Redstone) & used their showers. Do be careful if the river seems to be rising as it could be dangerous to your site.

Fantastic camp ground!

Beautiful 42 acre lake with great hiking path around it. Great for fishing, canoeing, paddle boarding, hiking, camping, snowshoeing around the lake, cross country skiing. You can rent cabins there as well as pitch your own tent. This summer, there is major construction on the dam there so activities are limited (summer 2018) but such a great spot. Pull through spots. 46 basic campsites, vault toilets & water taps available. Make sure to visit Eagle Ranch for great restaurants like 7 Hermits (microbrewery) & the Dusty Boot both of which often host live music. Check out great coffee houses like Yeti's Grind in downtown Eagle, EveryDay Outfitters & Cappie's Chic for awesome clothes, Pazzo's Pizza for great pizza, Dewey Dabbles in Art for fun pottery & art activities & the BackBowl for upscale bowling & food. Great ice cream at Grand Avenue Chill. Lots to do in Eagle - mountain biking is huge! Great public pool & ice rink in Eagle too. Too many hikes to list but wildflowers are stunning. Weather can change as it's at high altitude so bring fleece just in case, even in summer.
