Beautiful location

Beautiful campsite in the Sierra’s. Trail heads are close by. Mosquitos seem to always be around so be prepared for that. Campsites are not too close together.

Ice House Campground

We had a nice family campsite (53) very large, flat campsite. Across our site was the reservoir. This year the water was a bit high still however we heard typically they have nice beachy areas. Fishing was excellent! Overall a great campground in the El Dorado National Forest.

Our Shirttail Experience

Campground was quite loud at night. Sugar Pine Reservoir was a short walk down a path. We happened to be camping when a thunderstorm came through. No hook ups which we knew ahead of time. There is a dump station down the road.

Family Campground

Very popular campground for families and families with dogs. In the summer months it seems to be very busy. They have a lot of activities for the kids. Most sites are close to each other which makes for early mornings/late nights.

The Name Says It All

Rosevelt Elk roam through the campground. They were obviously used to people. We stayed on the “meadow” side where the elk roam through your campsite. The “forest” side is quite dark as you are camping in the redwoods. We had full hook ups on the meadow side. I am not sure if the forest side had full hook ups. They have a small pond with a ton of polliwogs in it (end of June). No fish in the pond as a couple of otters came in and ate the all the fish. Close proximity to the southern end of Redwoods National Park and many California State Parks. All in all this was a once in a lifetime experience!
