Nice campground with direct access to hiking

We visited Timothy Springs over 4th of July weekend. It's in a beautiful area surrounded by coniferous forest and multiple creeks/rivers. We really enjoyed this campground, and it doesn't appear to be heavily used. There are about 5 sites here with picnic tables and fire rings w/cooking grates. There is one very clean pit toilet on site. There is a cabin, but I wasn't able to find any info about rentals. There is direct access to a trailhead, which is the "end" of Wenaha River Trail on the AllTrails app. The first 2.5 miles are pretty easy-going. At this point there is a river to cross, and I didn't explore further.

No longer maintained, but cool spot

We set out to find this campground 4th of July weekend. Coming from Tiger Creek Road, it's about 20 miles down a dirt two-track. I wouldn't attempt this route without a 4x4 with decent ground clearance, but you can also get there from Skyline Rd by Jubilee Lake. There are a number of signs along the route naming Bone Spring CG, indicating it was a popular spot at one time. Now, it is not maintained and it's difficult to tell where the sites were. There's a pit toilet on site, also not maintained. We decided not to set up camp here, but the place has potential, even in it's current condition.

Rustic campground with a neat history

We tent camped for the weekend in mid-July. The plan was to camp at Jubilee Lake, but it was full when we arrived Friday evening. Target Meadows is just a short drive from the lake, but there were plenty of sites available. The campground is heavily wooded with beautiful evergreens. Sites are private and well spaced. This is a rustic campground, so there is no water or power. Amenities include (very clean!) pit toilets, picnic tables, and fire pits with cooking grates. There is a lot of dry timber on the ground, so it is easy to collect your own firewood. There is easy access to hiking, including Burnt Cabin trailhead. Most campsites are trailer friendly, including a few with drive-through access. We really enjoyed the area and will be back again!

Quiet, secluded, and close to hiking.

The campground has only has 5 sites, but we were the only campers. We camped the first week of June, so days were warm and it got cool enough at night to sit close the campfire. There are plenty of logging trails to hike within walking distance, and more a short drive away. The drive to Midway is beautiful, worth it even if you don't plan to stay overnight. There is one very clean vault toilet on site. No water, so bring your own.
