Quiet Night

Got rained out at my campsite, slept here on the level ground. No signs posted, woke up to 6 inches of snow

Great For A Sleep

Got snowed out at Flaming Gorge, stayed 2 nights here (non consecutively). Somewhat quiet, would stay again

Quiet In The Woods

Loads of sites along the FS roads out here, you don’t have to look hard, easier with more ground clearance

Beautiful, But Windy

Stayed 5 days here (stat limit 16 days). Close to Summit Rest Area (potable water March-October, flush toilets), Laramie for restocks, and the Vedauwoo Recreation Area. So much free camping here, only downsides are wind, & road noise. Absolutely beautiful views of the valley. Would stay again 100%

Quiet Night

Pulled up at the Loves in Box Elder just after midnight. It was an easy, quiet night, but there were some sketchy people there in the morning

Stayed Here For The Eclipse!

This campground was fantastic! I jumped on it, it was the last campground with availability in the Path of Totality for the Solar Eclipse. Sites are at perfect price points, you can get water/50a sites for $25/night, pretty darn good. Would stay again

Didn’t Stay Here, But Didn’t See Signs Posted

I just stopped while passing through, but I didn’t see any signs prohibiting overnight parking. It would probably be a quiet night if you stayed here.

Kept Right On Driving

I was not planning on staying here, merely a stop on a long trip, but the offensive writing on the bathroom walls, and multiple people approaching and asking for money was a sure deterrent. Don’t stop here, keep right on going.

Didn’t Feel Safe, But I Was Exhausted

My destination for the day was another 50 miles up the road, but I was exhausted from driving across Texas, and pulled off at this exit. The Truckstop across the street had signs posted, so Flying J it was. I parked amongst a gauntlet of box trucks to the right of the store, and slept. It was very loud, it did not feel safe. And, when I woke up in the morning and was about to leave, a man blocked my car in with his truck and was out looking at the front of my car. He moved when I asked him, but it just all felt very sketchy. Maybe I was just paranoid with it being so close to the border and El Paso not being the safest, but I probably would not stay here again unless I really had to.

Nice place to sleep-Did not ask

I was exhausted and it was 1am, I was not making it to my planned destination. I saw the big sign and breathed a sigh of relief! I didn’t ask, but there wasn’t any signs preventing overnight parking, so I respectfully parked far away from the store, and slept. A little loud, as I was in close proximity to the trucks, but just fine.

A Lovely Rest Area!

Very nice rest area on I-10. I usually stop here if I’m passing through. Have never slept here overnight, but it feels safe enough to. There’s lots of picnic tables, and a playground for the kiddos.

Stayed here a few times

I’ve slept a few times here in my travels, and it’s understandable why I do so. This location has always been friendly to overnight parking (though I’ve never asked). It’s refreshing to not see the two hour parking signs not up here (yet). Nice, quiet place for some sleep, though you will need window covers if you don’t like the light, the parking lot is lit up like a Christmas tree 😂.

Great Sleep until the Thunderstorm!

I did not ask. I parked close to the Tesla Supercharger next to a van & a box truck that looked like they were there for the night too. Surprisingly, really poor Cell Signal (Verizon). I slept great until the Thunderstorms hit at 2am with hail. Other than that, a nice place to sleep the night.

Called ahead for overnight parking, manager said it was allowed

I was told to park as far away from the store/close to the fast food restaurants/59 as possible. Pulled in at about 3am, left at 10am. No problem, felt safe and was quiet.

Decent Spot on the water

Good little park off the beaten path. You can camp with water views. Flush toilets with running water, but those mosquitoes will eat you alive.

Nice Spot to get away to

Very quiet, except during hunting season (wear blaze orange!!!). Any car should be fine on the dirt road, just take it slow.

Excellent Stay!

I like off the beaten path places, this sure is one of them! The tent sites are very nice, close to the river & oxbow lake (kayaks for rent!). Very peaceful.

Nice Spot at the base of the giants

This is a great campground if you have an RV, or are car camping. There isn't much privacy, and very little cell signal (Verizon). Other carriers reported better on Recreation.gov. Great for one night, but if I was to stay here longer, I'd prefer the tent sites.

Paradise Off The Beaten Path

This may very well be the cheapest lakefront real estate in Texas. You simply cannot beat $15/night right on the water! Very quiet, and never crowded (in November). Decent cell signal, and great reception on my Transistor/Weather radio.

A Solid Overnight

Rolled in here at about midnight on my way out west for some much needed sleep, it was very quiet, and there were not very many other folks overnighting, at least it appeared that way. Park out of the way of the store and you should be just fine. Easy access to I-20.
