This is our second time here and we love it as much as the first. Will probably be a yearly visit for us. We love all the sites, it’s quiet, near the lake, everyone is friendly. Really nothing bad to say at all(except for all the ticks….spray up)!!!
Went an hour each way off our route home to stay here. We fell in love with it. Loved the setting, how quiet it was, spaces level, nice showers, etc etc. We enjoyed hiking the trails and seeing what we could of the caves since they were closed. Unfortunately didn’t see the camp host but we weren’t in need of anything. The price is perfect especially for what you get. If we lived close it would be a regular place for us to camp!!
Loved this place. Great price for electric hook ups and a shower house ($15). Would’ve stayed longer if we weren’t going home. The host was very pleasant and helpful. Would stay here again if out this way. Our site was right on the water and had good shade.
A bit pricey for what it offers. Not much to do except tour the Buffalo Bill house:grounds. $25 for electric plus $8 for out of state campers. Ask the camp host for change and he was not in the least helpful. Had to go to him, otherwise we would’ve not seen him. The park ranger was very friendly, gave us good information about the area and easiest way to get back on interstate.
Just spent the night. It was nice and quiet. The spot we picked was pretty level. Lots of area for walking and exploring. Unfortunately a lot of trash scattered over the area. The road back was moderately washboarded but not too bad since it’s not far from the road.
Not a bad area but it’s just a big parking lot. If your not lakeside it’s just a place to park the camper. It’s first come first serve and on a Tuesday it’s full!! We did walk the trail by the lake and it has some great views!! I would come back for an overnight stay
We stayed at the campground not the group sites (which is about a 3/4 mile further down the road). The views were just breathtaking!!! We stayed 3 nights and for 2 we were the only ones there. The road is rough getting back but it’s worth the drive. I would definitely come back and recommend this to others!!
Love the area. We parked close to the road tucked in some trees. Wanted to be by the water but it was taken by multiple coach RVs. Road noise is fairly loud during the day, but for free I won’t complain (too much). Dispersed camping area only. Has a pit toilet but that’s about it. About 10 minutes from Silverton.
Went to Mesa Verde NP looking for a camp sight but refused to pay $40 for a dried grassy area with no hookups so we came just down the road and found this place. Quiet, level spaces, a little road noise but nothing to bark about. Would come back here again
Needed a place to stop for the night with electric since it’s 95 in Kansas in July. This was right off 400 on our way out of Dodge City. $25 a night with water and electric. Small campground but has what we needed. Bonus it has a laundry mat. Second bonus there is a horse farm right behind the campground.
Nice, quiet, relaxing!!!(Just there for the night) The primitive sites have the most amazing views!!! Nice easy trails and lots of road-age to walk on If we lived in the area we would definitely go back Only downfall was the bathhouse. It was full of some sort of gnats and no hot water.
Very nice campground. Electric hook ups only, no water, no sewers (and we are good with that) Lots of shade. Most spots seem level. The handicapped spots are paved!!! Very quiet. The only drawback is the bathhouse. Needs a good scrub and a working exhaust fan.
Nice campground close to the beach. Ride our bikes over the entire island several times. Only complaint is our site was close to the road with quite a bit of traffic. We did have a good shade tree!!! The sites are very close together but we had some really nice “neighbors”.
We just spent one night here. Nice and quiet. We had a great shaded spot. Bathhouses were clean. Nice area to walk. Only draw back for us was the closeness of the sites.
Looks like a campground where 90% of the people live here full time which is fine. The first night was nice and quiet but the second night there was music blaring all over the campground starting at dusk. I can’t believe that the hosts couldn’t hear it and didn’t said anything. The site haD no picnic table and the “fire pit” was an old small tire rim. There is a nice creek close by but definitely isn’t enough for me to stay here again especially at $47/night
We were not very impressed with the campground. The water and electric hookups on some sites are very from from the pads. We had to park our trailer close to the hookups which means we are just barely off the road. The sites are very small and some of them are very unlevel. Unfortunately not sure we would come back.
This was our first time staying here, but it won’t be our last. We loved the quaintness of the park, the sites are very roomy and flat. We loved being close to the water as well. The trail system in the park was great and we put in over 14 miles of hiking there. The staff was very friendly and helpful!! I would definitely recommend this park to friends and family. We can’t wait to come back
We stayed on the main road of the park and were concerned about a possible noise issue. We were pleased that after hours it was very quiet. Our spot was nice and flat but unfortunately no shade during the hot afternoon hours. We walked the trail system extensively and loved it. Also from our camper door to the beach was only 1.25 miles…..win from my standpoint. Used the laundry facility and was very impressed on the cost and cleanliness. Another win!!
Our first time RVing and this is where we stayed!! We really liked that the pads were concrete and level….took a lot of pressure off of the leveling process campground is clean and very quiet at night. Loved the trail system as well!!
