We chose this campground for its amenities and full hookups. It was our first time camping with a little pop up tent trailer. The sites are shady and the campground it is only a short walk to the beach (not a swimming beach). The pool and hot tub are great, the bathrooms could have been cleaned better. It can be loud during the day since some of the campers are showing off their equipment but it gets very quiet at 10pm.

This campground is conveniently located across the street from the Deschutes river. It has flush toilets and showers and (some sites) full hookups. The hosts are very nice and helpful. There is not a lot of shade and you can hear the street noise at night.

Despite the remote location and the bumpy gravel road to get to this park, it is a very popular campground. Advanced reservation is a must. Make sure to read the signs about the wildlife and take the advice of how to store food seriously. We saw a bear just a mile outside the campground. 

The sites are large and spaced far apart and shady. The lake is only a short walk away and great for swimming, kayaking or paddle boarding. The lake is surrounded by lava and the beach has been formed by volcanic material and smells a little sulphuric but the water is very clear. There are several stunning  hikes starting right at the campground .

We came in late and all the surrounding campgrounds were full. There were plenty of spaces to choose from at this park. The sites are nestled under beautiful redwood trees and there are great hiking  trails throughout the grounds. It has a big playground  for the youngsters. There is only one bathroom with flush toilets and they could use some serious updates. It can be quite a hike to the facilities from some of the sites. It has some portable toilets but they had not been emptied in a while and were disgusting.

The park is perfectly located to visit the surrounding State parks and Crescent City is only a short drive away.
