Colder than you think

Awesome access to lots of trails and of course the volcano. Wouldn’t go right now with the eruptions but worth the visit in the future.

Bring extra warm stuff; can get windy and quite chilly at night.

Popular, can be busy

Beautiful black sand beach, awesome sunsets and rises. Strong undertow, swim at your own risk. Sea turtles, mongoose, centipedes, and lots of birds!

Bring bug spray if you want to hang outside past sunset.

Walk up the beach to the rocks and see more

Cheap place to stay in downtown Anchorage

Very noisey, not too relaxing but just what we needed for a place in Anchorage town.

Bathrooms, showers and a nice big lawn to set up your tent. Surrounded by fence, reminds me of campgrounds in the lower 48

East access to a fabulous view

Worth the stop on the parks hwy. Enjoy Denali from the base and hopefully it’ll be a clear day!

simple campground, highway noise

can be a bit crowded during busy season (summer)

A haven away from Anchorage

Rough road to get there, but totally worth the mud!

Great fishing and plants keep outdoor lovers entertained for hours

please don’t run your rv generator all night and watch tv. Please, enjoy the silence and appreciate this place on earth; for yourself and your fellow campers

lots of hikes nearby. World class fly fishing

Beautiful, free & Busy!

Lots of eagles, but don’t feed them!

people love this campground and it’s near the tourist part of homer, convenient for the farmers market too.

wonderful place to camp, but there are other more private campgrounds nearby and it’s even worth going across Kachemack Bay for glorious private campsites.
