I have rated this campground before but after visiting other campgrounds I think I can give it a better rating. For location on water a definite 5 Star. It lacks on activities. 1 Star There are none. The sites I would give a weak 4 Stars only because the firepits need replaced. More weed whacking could be done along the rivers edge and mangroves borders. Picnic tables need repaired or replaces at several sites. The roads have all just been re blacktop which is a great improvement except for speeders in cars and golf carts. Wifi spotted and depending on site will determine if you get a signal. If your looking for a place to boat, kayak or fish this is the place. Some swimming in the river. Hookups 50amp and high sulfer well water hookups. No sewer hook up but several dump stations. For the price and what you get is great..
Facilities I would rate 4, plenty to do but lacking some in up keep.
Sites 3 sites are the smallest I have been to. When cooking in grill have to but awning in as the placed them close to the camping pad. Sewer water electric all working and placed as no extension would ever be needed. Being on ocean and prime real estate explains the width of sites.. Great beach access.
Staff 4.0 friendly
Site upon arrival 2.5Had to clean the grill and last campers charcoal etc.. watch staff when a site emptied staff does a drive by rather then walking site to check for garbage things out of place.
Covid policy 4. excellent a sealed packet is given to you with rules, gate codes, and things to do. Store you call ahead place order for essentials very limited. Pay with credit card. All precautions taken to protect workers however mask were not required in public bathroom it shower home.
Features: Boat Ramp, Picnic Shelters, Comfort Station, Parking, Dump Station, Fishing Area, Trails, Tent Sites, Playground, Showers, Picnic Area, Concrete Pads, Boat in Sites, Tent Sites, Water/Electric 30/50. Handicap Facilities. Horseshoe Pit.
On site Visitor center with history of the Lock and dams. You are able to tour the locks walk across them. Closed because of covid-19. Scheduled reopening Oct.1,2020.
The Staff are friendly and treat this place as home. Great Volunteer’s.
Free WiFi available at the visitor center during business hours, with outdoor covered seating overlooking the waterway. No swimming, several kayakers were out this trip. Wildlife and remember no feeding the gators.
Giving 3 stars for now. I read a review in this and is at my backdoor. Never new about this place. Hiking trails, boat ramp, fishing, on the Sebastian Waterway. There are 30 sites that are for tent or a small pop up. Sites are large include a concrete picnic table and fire ring. There are several locations to get water from. Bathhouse is for camping guest only and you need a combo code to get in. There are 4 sites that are for Rv’s that have water hookup and 30amp service. This is a first come first serve campground. Reservations are not taken. Tent camping you would be fine the Rv sites I think on weekends you would be out of luck. Today on a Tuesday there was 2 taken and all the 30 other tent/pop up were available. Close to a lot of shopping. Plenty of wildlife and plants to discover.
Never stayed here but visited the location for my sister. Clean park is definitely geared for the over 55 crowd. Close to major hwy so road noise. Staff was friendly answered all my questions. Did not see this as a weekend retreat as long term residents make your feel uncomfortable.
Drove through the not much action as far as campers. Had 2 areas for group picnics. Plenty of trails. No Driving to sites. For those who want rustic this would be a place worth checking into.
While staying at Franklin took a drive to check out this camp ground. Staff was great, park was very clean and peaceful. Not much around area making this a great place to do some nighttime photography. Little light pollution. Only 2 sites were taken. During slow season 1-30 are closed which is ashame as they tend to be the better sites. Only explanation for this would be these are the furthest away from shower/bath facilities. Looking forward to future trip in Oct.
While staying at another place I wanted to visit or check out this park.. Ranger Mike was friendly and helpful 5 stars to him. The sites were extremely private however more attention could be spending on thinning down some of the growth. The gravel pads need to be refreshed along with a few of the picnic tables. I would rate the sites 2.5 - 3.0, need lots of bug spray. The walking trails ate great 5 here. The bathroom I checked out 2. Boat Launch a mainly because it is to far away from the campsites. Plenty do do between visiting the historical buildings, walking trails, and kayak/canoe. I would fo back to kayak and camp at least one as they do offer 50amp in the rv lots. This park could be so much more if the state would spend a few more dollars on out natural resources.
Well kept, offers 30/50 amp service Most sites water front. Small sites but extremely clean. Down fall no sewer. Clean bath facilities. Shore or fishing peer. Boat ramp. Not much in walking trails. Sites 9.10,11 offer the best views. Wal-Mart aprox 10 miles. Tmobile cell service week 1 bar. Tv reception excellent.
The staff at check-in was the best. I talk with several over my 5 day stay sharing ideas and stories. Very helpful. The spots are laid out perfect. Easy to backend. Concert pads, gravel fire pit and covered picnic tables. No bad views i was in 3 different sites during my stay. Grounds are kept clean, cut, trim and edged. Reception good on t.v. Antenna and dish satellite. No wifi on sites but free wifi at reception area. Great river views. 3 bars on T-mobile. Your right at the locks so watch the boats pass from the gulf to the Ocean. Horseshoe pits. Clean showerhouse. Tent camping is primitive m. All RV sites have water 30 and 50 amp service. Sites on river will hold 45’ class A. Close to shopping. All sites have 30/50 amp service and water. Sewer is not available. Dump station near exit on way out, Because of the cleanest of the campground and the friendly staff I rate this a five. they make up for the only downfall of being allowed to dump once per week or there is a fee of $20.00. there is no charge for a honey wagon dump. I would assume the extra fee is to encourage water management since there has been issues with algae growth in the waterways.
I have done several reviews of this place each time I discover more. Full Hookups, 50amp at all sites, sewer/water and free wifi. Excellent cell service on T-mobile. Clean laundry facilities. Tennis, basketball, canoe rental. 2 dog parks one for over 30lbs and one for under 30 lbs. My biggest complaint has been the picnic tables so happy to see the were all replaced with new in the last 3 month. Great walking trails and wonderful wildlife and landscape for viewing. Great opportunities for some excellent photography shots why I keep coming back. Of course the friendly staff. Enjoy my video.
The staff is friendly. Facilities are kept clean. Full hookups; water, sewer, 50 amp. Free wifi however poor connection. Good size nicely kept lots. Unable to pick lots why a 4 rating. Reservations recommended. Restrooms showers are 3 star. Nice laundry facilities. TV antenna good reception. No problem with AT&T or Tmobile for cell service. Fenced dog park, Tennis, playground, canoeing available onsite.
Make your reservations early as this place fills up fast. Stayed 3 nights after reopening from covid-19. Park was allowed 50% operation. Staff was right on the ball for social distancing and keeping the shower/bath houses cleaned. 50amp service at all sites with water hookup. Sulfur well so I suggest bringing bottle water for drinking. No sewer hookups or the water keeps this from being 5 stars. T-mobile and At&T had fair signal. Antenna service for tv poor. Dish no problem.
The clubhouse was outdated took me back to the 70’s An I mean the tables etc looked like they been around the long. The park itself was very clean however the spots were small. Friendly campground however. They have a small basic fenced in area for dogs. Not a place I would spend a weekend camping. I can see the attraction for snowbirds for spending time. Just a minute from I-95 exit. Fast food available outside the entrance.
I would give a four or five star rating except for the bathrooms were dirty. Toilets clogged over 24 hours. May of been a shortage or volunteer camp host , however there were plenty at of Park Rangers idle at check in. Plenty of activity, many sites have been upgraded to 50amp service. Need a bike or vehicle to get to beach area. Plenty of traffic for boat ramp.
Spent 2 nights here to a full campground. Facilities all in working area. Large graveled lots with picnic table, fire ring and bbq grill. Sewer, water, 50/30 amp power. Paved roads with some paved walking trails. Plenty of gravel trails. Ample restrooms and showers. Like 1 bathroom/showerhouse for every 20 campsites with vending, washer, dryers and book game share spot. The buildings are kept clean. Also a nice dump area. Dog cleanup stations are along trails.. Bonus they have a clothes line at each site to toss your towels etc over to dry. T-mobile 3 bars LTE or -104db inside rv. Staff very friendly and helpful at check in. A place to come back to. They also have planned activities throughout the week. During work week you hear road noise from USHwy1. If not for the morning and evening traffic on 1 this would be a 5.
My movie of camping area on youtube.
Find this a great convenient place for relaxing few days off. The park is always kept clean. I noticed on this trip several picnic tables have been replaced which happened to be my one complaint in the past. Playground area was being update with all new equipment. I stay at site 2 this time. Even number sites tend to be the best as power sewer and electric would be on left side. Odd number sites you are going to need extra length power cords, hose and sewer connection. With a class A little easier as you just pull in rather then back in. You may then need to move table etc…. Has excellent laundry facilities. The bath house at times could use more cleaning, however this is caused more by the user clogging up toilets or leaving soap, shampoo bottles, razors around and not wiping sink counters down when down. Rates are within line at 25.00 night. No senior rates…. Wifi is free but the signal is week if at all. Hopefully improving this would be next. Canoes are available to rent. The park is locked up at night with a gate code for campers to come and go after hours. In the office you will find books, dvd’s and vhs tapes to borrow during your stay.
Just upgraded the main bathhouse with new showers, restrooms, laundry room. Free wifi however open system very slow. Poor cell service t-mobile. Plenty of on water sites. No sewer sites. Early check-out long lines for dump station. Very clean campground and friendly. Water hook ups however lot of sulfur. Nice bait shop and restaurant at turn into campground.
2nd time here, secure area, friendly staff.. My only negative is the condition of the picnic tables. Offer wifi for free along wth free books and movies to borrow. excellent tv reception, good tmobile signal. 2 dog parks, lot of hiking, canoe renal available. Close to variety of shopping. Ocean is 20-30 mins away. Clean facilities. Friendly staff. Winter months hard to get a spot.
Great campsites the only reason for 4stars is cost. Expensive camping for 1 or 2. The plus is you are allow up to 10 on a campsite. Plenty to do. Private sites. Reservations ned to be booked way out. Can jandle the larger rv’s.
