Pleasant Surprise for a camper that didn’t look at pics before arriving

We showed up around 1 am. This seems to be a trend for us. At the time the camp site looked straight out of a horror movies. The trees are twisted and white. Now I know it’s called the twisted forest lol.

We couldn’t see the views and at night the woods seemed endless.

In reality when we woke we were just on the end of the woods and there were a couple of meadows between us and a pretty amazing view off a cliff showing rock formations like Zion on one side and beautiful grass covered hills and mountains on the other.

There’s a decent drop toilet as well. Be aware that even in late June there’s lingering snow.

Pleasant Surprise to say the least

We came here because frankly I was up way too late driving trying to make it from Yellowstone to Bandlands after spending way too long being weird with my sons launching rocks into a river in Wyoming with sling shots then got into a snap pop fight with the same sling shots. My questionable, if funny, parenting skills aside, we arrived at this site around 2 am. At night all you can see is a large meadow with flowers. There’s a sign that says parking area marking the spot. It’s a small sign. Keep your eyes open. Oh, and there were millions of stars. The view is the reason to come. There are two nice fire rings that I didn’t see until morning.

In the morning I saw that we were parked on the edge of the top of a mesa and the view was equally as amazing as the night time view of stars. Green grass, rock and flower covered hills and mesas and mountains going on forever. I’d definitely come back. There’s no bathroom. So bring your own facilities or shovel.
