Great in the off season

Craig Fishing Access campground 10 sites. Unseasonably warm, beautiful early spring day by the Missouri River. There are no campers, but the sites are clean, seem to be well taken care of. One vault in the campground another at the vault at the fishing access to the front of the campground. Private property in the back of the campground several campsites close to the river are shaded which in the summer would be perfect. Some noise from I-15.

Not for RVs unless you like backing up from the main road.

Agree with Dexter. Pretty setting, creek running nearby. Can do fair amount of walking since railroad is no longer used. But constant traffic noise from I-15 can be a real drawback unless one is deaf.

What camp ground?

If one goes by the coordinates that are listed on this page you end up on top of a mountain west of the highway going south. I always double check before leaving home plus I live in Montana and been in that area. GPS readings are not necessarily correct seen that happen the other night when a out of stater was attempting to get to park lake using the GPS.

Primitive

Word of caution with this 3 site fishing access for couple of reasons. Stopped there 9/20/20 late afternoon when the wind was blowing very hard out of the north. First caution before I would go back again would make sure I have the chain saw with me. There are couple big half dead cotton wood trees that could come down. Cotton wood trees rot from the inside out and good wind will bring them down.

But it was great stop for few hours listening to the wind in the trees with color change of the leaves. Black foot river was running low and clear but enough water for a floater had put in early in the day.

Second caution if one would come in the early spring park by the vault then walk down to the camp grounds. The three sites show signs of heavy damage when spring run off comes high water has cut deep ruts that could make it difficult getting turned around etc.

Nice especially the view from any of the camping spots.

Sunday 9/20/20 got there early in the morning four campers in the bottom section. One camping out of the vehicle other 3 where tents. One TT and one truck camper on the upper area. One boat fisherman fishing close to shore there was a stiff wind blowing out of the north.

We had a friend stay there two days before and suggested we take a look at it for a meeting place next year for fishing. Yes we would take our TT there for sure. Good road coming off Hwy 200 but you need to be looking for the turn off sign it comes up on you real fast at the top of the hill. The turn off is between mile maker 54 - 53 to the west.
