We called last minute for an overnight and there was one spot left. We were welcomed and taken care of even arriving after hours. Nice pull through sites, clean bathrooms and showers, (laundry too, although we did not use this stop), and a nice area with horse shoes and another toss game. Trains can be heard occasionally while outside but inside with our fan running we never heard them.
Beautiful park, beautiful scenery and amazing playground!
We enjoyed two nights at the Badlands Boondocking Area. We stayed at the northernmost area of the camping and enjoyed the view down the entirety of the wall. The winds can get really high so don’t park too close to the edge. This was a great location for visiting Badlands National Park and going to Wall Drug.
The Bearded Buffalo Resort is still under construction as of July 1, 2024 but let me tell you, it is in a GREAT location, it’s going to be amazing when finished (actually, it already is!) and the owners are just wonderful! We were taken care of from beginning to end of our stay. The campsite was in such a pretty setting - we were close to town but also felt like we could enjoy a little nature. We saw deer just behind the campground both days of our stay.
Located a short drive from Downtown Custer, easy drive to Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park and Sylvan Lake. Would absolutely stay here again!
Piney Campground is part of the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area. It is wildly popular among locals and travelers alike. Lots to do for kids - bike paths, basketball court, multiple playgrounds, etc. Beautiful views of Kentucky Lake/Tennessee River, nice campground store.
Peaceful campground, well maintained, beautiful views of the Upper Peoria Lake/Illinois River. We enjoyed a nice pull-through full hookup site that required minimal leveling. Water has a lot of iron so does smell/taste weird.
