Excellent Group Camping by the Ocean

This is a good group campground with sinks, showers and flush toilets. The one downside is how exposed the campground is, there is no shade. Bring a sun canopy if you can. A nice day hike trailhead is right at the campground. Also because it’s so close the beach the wind can really whip up, stake down your tents tightly.

Good Beginner Backpacking spot

This backcountry camp is a good spot for first time backpackers. It is well known so head out early to get a good spot. I'd avoid going in the spring when the PCT hikers are in the area, this spot is on the PCT and crowded during PCT season. We went in late June and there was still water available near the campsite. There is a pit toilet but because this is a popular day hiking area it was so dirty I choose not to use it.

Best Car Camping Spot in the Angeles Forest

This place is lovely and a well designed campground. It is however very popular, you need to get there early to get a good spot. It is set back from the road a little giving you a quieter experience away from the 2. This would be a good first car camping spot for families with young children.

Good for Groups

This campground is located away from the 2 making it pretty quiet at night. It is a great location for large groups and especially groups with kids. It is close to a lot of good day hikes in the nearby area. The only drawback is that you need to bring your own water, there is no potable water at this campground.
