My husband and I camped at one of three tent sites that are located right on the lake. There is a new (or at least very clean) Porta-Potty for these three sites to share. There was also a VERY outdated/pieced together shower house near the office--something is better than nothing, I suppose. Back to the campsites: private, good amount of space, a picnic table, a firepit, and a trash can provided at each site. We did have some cleaning up to do when we arrived--bottle caps and even some Mich Ultra bottles littered the ground. But overall we had a pleasant stay--being on the lake was enough for us to overlook the litter we had to pick up when settling in.
I was nervous at first when I pulled up in a camper van--the "campground" was very much geared towards seasonal campers in large RVs. However, I was able to grab one of just a couple open spots on a Thursday afternoon. The staff (and residents) were so friendly and helpful. There were restrooms with coin-op showers and also a laundry room. Knocked off one star for the lack of privacy between sites and for the price ($70+ for essentially a parking spot with water/electricity is a bit much imo--at least make the showers free! lol)
The each campsite is nice and private--I was lucky enough to get a site on the lake for my stay! The shower houses/restrooms are amazing--one big open room with a large shower, toilet, sink, bench, and towel rack. The only downside is you have to press the button for the shower to run, and it's only a few seconds each push, so you're constantly pressing a button as you're mid scrubbing. But hey--after a long day of hiking or swimming, that's no big deal!
The campground was nice and quiet during our stay, but the pit toilets near our campsite were quite rough--super smelly and an endless amount of flies flying out of the toilet.
The staff was very nice and helpful during our stay. There are a variety of sites to choose from and a bunch of things to do around the campground. The campground store also had a good supply of items, too. It sounds like the new owners are making improvements around the campground, so I'm excited to see how it comes along if I'm in the area again in the future!
Stayed for a night while passing through the area. Lots of space between sites and very clean facilities. Would stay again.
I was lucky to snag one of the couple remaining campsites on a Saturday afternoon. The sites are spacious, the bathrooms with flush toilets are clean enough, and the river nearby is a great spot to rock-hop if you're not too busy hiking the many amazing trails in the area.
Stayed here again while passing through the area. Facilities are still looking good and the host was very helpful with getting us settled in. Will visit again!
Good enough spot to stay for the night in a van/RV. Sites were a bit cramped, but level. Bathrooms and showers available.
Stayed here for one night while traveling through the area. The resort felt safe, the staff friendly, and the bathrooms were very clean. My only complaint is you're shown to your spot by someone in a golf cart who then hovers until tipped (so be sure to have some extra cash ready.) This seemed like an unnecessary service at a location this size with a simple layout.
The hosts were very friendly and helpful during our short stay. The area was clean and safe. Would stay again!
Had a quiet and peaceful stay. Must camp at a numbered site. Most sites are right along the road, but I was lucky enough to snag one deeper in the woods. Some of the sites even have an outhouse. Stayed in October, so when I left early the next morning, I passed a lot of hunters that had camped along the road, too. The road is in good condition. No AT&T cell service in this area.
Nice, wooded sites. Staff was great and very helpful. I didn't see the restrooms with the showers on the one end of the campground, but the restrooms I did see on the end that I stayed were like outhouses but with flushable toilets--kinda meh.
Nice, wooded sites. The restroom is a bit dated and dingy, but clean. The shower is coin-operated and could offer a bit more privacy (the stall wall is quite low and right next to the door entering the restroom.)
Plenty of space between sites. Decent bathroom situation--I've seen better and I've seen worse in Vermont. The (AT&T) cell phone reception was pretty good, but could be slow at times (which could be because of the area or because of the busy fall color season.)
Great campground with a decent amount of space between campsites. The bathrooms (which have coin-operated showers) were immaculate and seem to be somewhat newer than the other state parks.
I called and booked ahead of time knowing I'd arrive late and leave early, which was absolutely no problem, so I'm very thankful for that. I paid over the phone, was given clear instructions on where to park, and was told to enjoy my stay. This location is great if you're in a van or RV and need a quick place to stay for the night in this area of NY in mid- / late-October (because it seems NY closes its state parks quite early) or if you're here for the rock-hunting. From what I could see late at night (which honestly wasn't much) I wouldn't recommend for tent-camping as the sites were quite close to each other and not much soft ground for sleeping.
I launched from the Pine Acres Boat Launch and stayed at one of the primitive campsites on Cooke Dam Pond. The boat-in sites are great because they're super spaced out and private. Always an enjoyable time!
Privately-owned and just a short distance from Indiana Dunes. The owner was very nice and helpful at check-in. There were several open spots on that rainy Sunday, so we were allowed to pick any open spot. Some spots were out in the open, others along the tree line, and a few in the woods. All sites had a picnic table, fire ring, and seemed fairly level.
This park campground was a great stop for a night as we drove through Nebraska. Safe, clean, and nearly full by the time we parked early-evening on a Friday. Beatrice's website says "20 camping sites (3 pull-through)" and I would consider these to be geared toward RVs/vans, not so much toward tenting.
