My favorite camp spots. I’ve visited the monument multiple times and i love this area. Some spots are closer together to allow for bigger groups but most are semi secluded. Never disappoints and have camped here in every weather which the trees protect at least somewhat.
Limited amount of spots along this road due to some areas being private property. At the end of the road is entry to the wilderness and a trail.
This campsite is on a dry lake bed and is pretty exposed to the elements. It was semi in town but far enough away to be a 15 minute drive. We’ve been there twice and felt pretty exposed and the second nice was more packed than the first night.
We went to this campground to hike the San Juan trail and ended up staying the night as well. Such as beautiful campsite. It was a quiet night with not such noise from people. Tons of birds in the area to listen to.
