I really liked this campground. It’s one of the campground inside Joshua Tree NP and reservable through Recreation.gov. The sites are very private but they are small. Both the pull through and back in sites are small so this is definitely not for big rigs. We had A19 which is a pull through on the right side of the road and we had to go into the gravel part of the site so we would be in enough to open our driver side slide out. And we ended up pretty slanted as a result, but it fit. There are flush toilets that are very clean. This side of the park is very nice but most of the action is north of here and so we’re an hour drive to a lot of the hikes we want to do. No cell service at all.
The campground was great, all new and clean but it’s VERY HOT there. Not surprising given the location but we went in June and hit a heat wave and it was 110 degrees. There is no shade in the campground and the lake is down a steep hill. Plan on driving down to the lake or the walk back up will be brutal in the heat. Bring beach gear including a portable tent for shade. They don’t sell anything there and it’s a drive from the closest store. It’s too hot in the summer to do anything but hang by the lake. The water is freezing btw, but you need it. After the lake we all hang out inside the RV with the A/C until at least 8pm before going out to cook dinner because it was that hot.
Our kids loved this place. They have RV sites that can accommodate big rigs with full hookups and also a tent camping area. We stayed in the full hookups up area and we had a lot of space between our RV and the one the next to us. We didn’t feel crammed at all. There are lots of trees for shade and very spacious to hang out. Kids rode bikes all over. There’s a store that seeks a bunch of stuff. We were there in June.
We only stopped here on an overnight but were impressed. The sites are spacious and the facilities very clean.
This is a basic RV park that looks a bit like a parking lot. The sites are close together and all we had was a small strip of gravel with a picnic table super close to the driver side (and open slide) of the RV parked next to us. I would not have enjoyed putting out some camp chairs and hanging out there. But it didn’t matter to us because we were camping in December and it was freezing, so we were gone all day and hang out inside our trailer in the evening cooking inside. You also get noise from the road but all RV parks in Moab are just as close to the road. The positive is that they had full hookups including water even in the winter with below freezing temperatures. The bathrooms were also nice and clean. And the location very convenient for exploring the national parks.
Beautiful campground. Very clean flush toilets even in the winter. Site A18
I’ve stayed here twice, both times just for the night to break up my drives, so I can’t speak for the amenities but it’s overall a nice place if you want to stop in this area. The bathrooms were clean and well maintained. They have a check in person at the entrance so the place feels safe.
There isn’t a ton of privacy but I really like this campground and Bryce is just amazing! Most sites have the table/fire pit area behind your RV/trailer and not on the side. If you’re going in the summer and want shade I suggest bringing a pop up tent because you may not get to use your awning much since you’re not setting up on the side.
We stayed in mid October when the campground is first come first serve. Good thing we got there early in the morning (it was Saturday) because they had just closed an entire loop that significantly reduced the number of sites. We got the last one available but it was a really nice site with a lot of privacy (17). This entire area is very pretty. The fall colors were amazing! Tip: don’t drive to the upper lake, it was mostly dry in the fall and the drive was VERY rough for 3 miles uphill.
We just stopped there for the night to break up the driving so I can’t speak for staying there long term (we didn’t even unhook) but the place was nice looking and the facilities were very clean. We looked inside their clubhouse and it looked super nice. The sites were long, paved, and level. You do get some noise from the freeway and there isn’t much shade because the trees are still young. Stayed in October.
This campground is beautiful and very nice! Vault toilets were well maintained. Camp hosts are super nice! No showers and no store so plan ahead. Getting there is a bumpy drive. The road is gravel, very dry and dusty, and full of potholes. Not sure how easy it would be with a large trailer. Some sites have shared bear lockers so you only get half of a usual locker.
This campground is great but it’s very busy. Some sites are amazing and others are not very private and pretty close together. It really comes down to luck and the early morning rush to get a site can be a bit stressful. If you manage to get a good site you won’t want to leave.
Beautiful place with sites right on the river! The sites are spread out and most are private. There are no bear lockers or dumpsters. Vault toilet was well maintained. I see the notes here say there’s a dump station but we couldn’t find one, so I’m not sure this info is correct.
We just stayed there in our travel trailer and the campground is beautiful! A few things I want to highlight for others considering it: 1. It wasn’t busy at all and we had our pick of electric sites. Of course it’s late September so I have no idea how busy it is earlier in the season.
- This is a beautiful open area with just a few trees. It actually makes for a gorgeous campground especially with fall colors popping up, but anyone going during hot weather should keep in mind there isn’t much shade.
- Sites are gravel, mostly level, and spacious (but not very private since there aren’t many trees dividing the sites). Bathrooms are nearby and clean. There’s a nice play structure for kids.
- It was windy!!! I have no idea if it was just the weather during our stay or if this is a particularly windy spot so please take this with a grain of salt. In all fairness it was windy all around the area (we went to nearby Madison Buffalo Jump park and Missouri Headwaters State Park and it was windy there too), but it did seem that the gusts were a bit stronger in the campground. We ended up leaving a night early because we didn’t want another night of cooking and eating inside the trailer and it was too windy to sit outside.
- The cavern tour is definitely worth it!
