Nicely laid out KOA with a number of different site types. The staff is super nice! Everything seems new. The roads are a mix of asphalt and gravel. Nice playground. We stayed in #26 which is a "View" site. Our site was pretty wide and we had plenty of room for our table in addition to the provided bench/table. At sunset, it was perfect to sit behind the camper and look out over downtown Las Cruces. Not to mention the nighttime view out of the back window (see picture) Some of the sites (especially some of the pull-through sites are more narrow and did not give a lot of space for any outdoor activity.
This campground, a City of St Peters park and campground, is as excellent as a campground comes. The campsites are "state-park-size", especially the back-in sites which all have plenty of lawns behind them. All sites have a view of the small lake. The park/campground rents paddleboats, kayaks, and canoes in addition to different kinds of bikes. There is a walking trail around the lake (4+ miles). There is fish in the lake and you are allowed to fish. The ATT cell phone signal is good. The staff is SUPER NICE AND CARING. Example 1: There was some rough springtime weather expected one day. A park ranger went around to every site and notified every camper of where the shelters were (the restrooms/showers) and gave out a flyer about the specific weather forecast! This is in addition to all campers getting an email. Example 2: We were checking out right before a weekend. Our site, previously not available that weekend, had opened up. The staff called to tell us that the site had opened up over the weekend and wanted to check with us before giving it to someone else.
This is not by any stretch a good campground. That said, it is right by I-20 (you can hear the traffic) and there are not very many alternatives in the area. This KOA has quite a few permanent residents (old campers with stairs and decks…) which, in my mind, gives it a little "creepy" feel. The sites are gravel and are reasonably level, conducive to not unhooking for the night. Not all sites have fire rings. Some sites do not have the table on gravel but on grass.
We will stay here again--if we have no other choice.
Nestled in a forest in the hillsides just outside Hot Springs, this is a nice KOA. The staff is friendly and the sites are, for KOA standards, spacious. There is a fishing pond where kids got lots of little fish. There is a pool (closed when we visited) and a grill that serves breakfast Friday through Sunday. Overall a great campground!
This is a great campground for staying a few days or for just a travel stop while traveling on I-40. There is an abundance of large (long and wide), level pull-through sites for RVs. The sites are gravel. The cell reception is excellent (ATT). We stopped here for a day of work while traveling on I-40. When you book on Reserve America, and even on the local map, the sites look like they are packed like sardines but that is not the case at all. You have plenty of space. There is a playground for the kids and a beach (we visited in December, so, no, we did not test the water…)
The lake is very rich in birds. Lots of them. We watched hundreds of cranes, geese, ducks, and many more (we are not bird watchers normally but it is hard not to bring out the binoculars). In the morning we had 10 grazing turkeys outside our RV. We will be back any time we travel through this area.
This campground offers no-services tent/RV and RV with electrical. The electrical spots are all in cut grass areas, many with great shade trees. The no-service sites are more wooded. We did not visit the facilities (COVID) but the campground is well kept and nice. The staff did not wear masks (hence the lower rating).
There are plenty of good walking trails along the river. We are looking forward to coming back in the spring to walk these nice wooded trails. We did not see any bike trails.
There is good cell service (ATT) at the campsites. We did not detect any WiFi from our camping spot.
NOTE. The park is close to some motorsports arena which had loud events (drag racing?) during the entire weekend we were there. If you appreciate peaceful days and nights, check out the racing schedule first.
The campground is great. Most of the sites are flat and paved. The campground is right next to the Meramec River. There is WiFi available but it is not reliable. The cell phone service is virtually non-existent. We had planned to work from here and had to cut our visit short.
