Vry cool camping area along the creek. Short drive or walk to the actual balanced rock. Picnic tables, awning, restrooms and even a horseshoe pit available. Swingset for kiddos. For day use or night use as firepits available. Great place for a weekend getaway!
Postings only allow camping at the campground and extreme fire warnings were in place so despite the initial entrance saying campfires only at campground, the campground had no fires postings in place. On a not so dry day, I'm sure fires are allowed as there are plenty of firepits. About 8 campsites available, including a group site. All sites have picnic tables and awnings and are close to restrooms. On a busy day there may not be much privacy, but when we were there only 2 other families were staying and were spaced out enough you couldn't hear anything. The gultch itself is lovely! Recommend!
The park itself has roughly 10 sites (correct me if I'm wrong). A pavillion for day use, swing sets for kids, horshoepits, fire pits, and plenty of space within the canyon. The sites are along a creek with amazing rock formations all around. Very close to balanced rock itself which is an easy hike! Simple getaway from Boise or Twin!
Loved this spot tucked away in the Marin Headlands. Great views of the golden gate or Pacific in the far distance. Sites spread enough apart that no one was too close. Firepit and picnic tables available
We drove down to Big Sur on a whim… on memorial day weekend (amateurs). Of course every visible campsite was full, asked a total stranger along a trail where to stay and he suggested little sur. We hiked downhill from another campsite to find ourselves completely secluded here! To be in one of the prettiest parts of the country at a solo site was phenomenal. Loved the sounds of the creek nearby as we slept. Great trees for hammocks. Trailheads all around too. Just bring big spray! Definitely recommend!
Many sites available and an easy hike to more hotsprings along the Payette River. Lots of tree cover. There was a forest fire in the area recently so be mindful if there's still damaged area (have not been here since 2016).
Quite a view! Met several wonderful people along the trail, at the site, and during the summit. Great place all around. If going in fall, prepare for some ice in the evening and light fog. Great experience.
There's a surreal quality to the place. Driving up the change in terrain is enough to make you speechless. Sleeping here is even better. Great atmosphere and sites and the visitor center is informative.
Cool place for photos and exploration but be ready for sand! Bandana around the face doesnt hurt. The observatory is close by to see outer space. Lovely place and the staff at the visitors center are friendly and helpful.
Truly anywhere in the Sawtooth Wilderness you're going to be comfortable and happy. Gorgeous place with lots of nature to behold. Enjoy it!
Sites are first come, first serve right off of the Teton Bypass. Sites are spacious and have restrooms, picnic tables and firepits for comfortable use. Only reason for low rating is it's very close to the road so you will hear cars rushing past vs. the sounds of nature and the lights from the road make it hard to see the stars. But it's cheaper than a hotel for last minute plans to run off to nature!
If you're needing a quick getaway for the weekend but cant go too far from Boise/Meridian, Swan Falls is the place for you! Both the idaho power side and further down the gravel road gives you numerous options for camping. Dam makes for great fishing too!
