North Beach campground is super pretty with oaks and palm brush creating privacy between sites. Our site 27 was really great, although it did have the street in back so you can hear cars but mostly during the day. The beach is GORGEOUS and right across the street with a great restaurant, The Reef. In back of the property was the river/intercoastal where there was another restaurant, Aunt Kates. We loved having both options! Location is about 10-15 minutes from old town so just know you have to drive and find parking. I do wish the campground offered WIFI bc cell signal was pretty much 2 bars. None of this hampered our visit though, we will 100% come back!
We were in Laurel loop in a double site. It was perfect for 2 tents and our 17’ camper. Nice woodsy site, although you can hear a bit of road noise. No cell signal but we were able to set up our star link with a patch of open sun behind the site. We actually forgot to bring coffee so it was great to have the coffee truck 5 mins away outside the campground. Hiked the North Slope nearly 4 miles wore out the dogs perfectly!
Camped with my daughter and our two dogs for 2 nights and really loved this park. We had a large, multilevel campsite that was just perfect for tent camping. Very woodsy and quaint but the rangers office had lots of small gear/tools in case you forgot something, ice, they are open 7 days 12-8pm and they take credit cards! Highly recommend the ADA Hi Falls Trail. It’s a little hard bc you go downhill to the waterfall and then have to come up the whole way back, but I wouldn’t let moderate stop you from doing it bc there are benches to stop all the way and it’s super close to the campsites. Other recommendations - Mark of The Potter in Clarksville. A really cute shop that sells pottery from 45 different local artists and a beautiful waterfall right behind, a pretty drive about 40 mins away.
Stayed one night on the way into the badlands and black hills. It was an uncomfortable night partially bc of the weather which is no fault of the campground but also bc our site faced the “cabins” which had bright white lights on the outside that shined right at us. Guess if you were in an RV it wouldn’t have mattered. Next time I’d take my chances for first come first serve at Cedar Pass inside the park.
What a pretty place! Nice size campsite with no dedicated spot to pitch the tent but multiple options bc it is multi level with the fire pit down low in a separate hang out area. We did have a difficult time staking the tent with our tiny stakes so make sure you have titanium, the gravel is tough! We absolutely loved the hike, you can get to the waterfall and back in a bit 2 hours or so. There was so much further we could have gone and more to do if we had the time but that will have to be for next visit. Cloudland was our favorite campground the entire trip and we stayed at 5 different spots. We stayed 2 nights and will definitely come back since it’s about an 8 hour drive for us from home.
Campground is beautiful and very woodsy. We saw bunnies hopping around and when we first arrived to our site a deer was grazing nearby, such a bonus! No electricity but water was conveniently located right across from our site to do dishes and whatnot. Staking the tent wasn’t difficult at all. Our site was fairly spacious and a not super close to others which we liked. The sites by the vault toilet looked closer together so I could see that being a cool spot for multiple families or friend groups. Don’t leave anything out at night or raccoons will scavenge, we accidentally left our trash bag hanging (ugh!) but that was our fault. We stayed only one night passing through on a road trip but would stay again if we end up in the area.
We were initially assigned to site number 10 which was small but fine because we were tent camping. After a quick set up we started walking around and found site number 16 open by the water with a breeze. We drove up to the front confirmed availability and moved camp. Keep in mind this is not the beach, it is a lake but also has a trail along side where we walked the dog which was nice. Ground is gravel but not difficult to stake. Bathroom facilities were very well located in the middle of the inner loop. Our site was on the outer side of the loop but paths to the bathroom are easy to find because there are reflectors making it visible with a flashlight at night. We only stayed one night but would definitely come back and bring bikes so we can check out the cute little beach town nearby.
Beautiful and quiet spot with dedicated area to set up your tent separate from the gravel driveway and fire pit. We stayed in the upper loop site 52 which was super spacious and had the potable water spigot nearby. Only major drawback was not having cell service but mostly bc we still had to work on our trip. In the mornings I would drive down to Keystone Community Center to take early calls before
going about our day, but it honestly wasn’t bad bc it’s a really pretty drive.
