Pretty Pit Stop

We stopped here for one night since we needed a last minute campsite. They had flush toilets and sinks with running water which were kept clean. The campgrounds were tidy and there were only a couple of other campers staying the night as well. Located close to a few shopping centers and restaurants so it wasn’t as secluded as we normally like and not ideal if you’re looking to stargaze but it seemed like a great place for family camping trips if you’re looking for electric hookups and a few extra comforts. We didn’t do much exploring but it looked like they had a few nice trails to walk along.

Beautiful Snowy Campsite

This was our first time camping in the snow and the campgrounds didn’t disappoint. We stayed here for a couple of nights and had the campgrounds to ourselves for the most part. Our site had the creek running right behind it and although it was partially frozen over the sound of the running water was so peaceful. Most roads in the Great Basin were closed to cars due to the snow but we were told we were still allowed to access them on foot which was great for our pup. We took her for a long walk in some of the snow covered roads and it was absolutely stunning. It really felt as if we were the only ones in the park since we encountered just a couple of people at the visitor center and no one else while we hiked on the roads. Drinking water was available at the visitor center which was about a 5 minute drive from the campgrounds and the bathroom was kept very clean (We were basically the only ones using it).

Camping in the Snow

We camped here in January and found that there was no charge for camping there during the winter season. Came with our pup and had most of the campground to ourselves since there was just one other family camping there as well. The snow on the campsites was pretty deep so we had to clear some of the area to get a tent up. Did the dog friendly hike to the visitor center which was lovely in the snow.

Great BLM site

We looked for a last minute camping spot as we went from LA to Colorado and came across this spot. It was free and pet friendly and right next to the lake which made for a beautiful sunset. The only downside is that you do hear quite a bit of traffic driving past since it’s right next to the road but it’s definitely worth it for being free.
