From the moment we arrived it was just issue after issue. Directed to the wrong site initially that already had a camper on it, had to go around the whole park again to be able to get into our correct spot. Never received a key card for the gate or the wrist bands you’re supposedly suppose to wear while you’re there. They confiscate your kiln dried firewood even if you’re from in state. But proceeded to tell us it was okay to level the camper with the wood but not burn it (riddle me that one). Essentially, it’s their way to ensure that you HAVE to buy their extremely wet pine firewood. The sites have no grass at all, it’s just silky sand that flies everywhere. And if you’re extremely unfortunate like we were, you get parked near a seasonal camper who watches you from their windows all weekend and makes you feel like a hoodlum. We almost considered leaving less than 24 hours after arriving and cutting our loses- decided instead to make the best out of a no good situation.
Overall had a really great weekend at this campground. The campground offers activities pretty much hourly for kids and adults to enjoy. Along with a pool, they also have a beach and a separate beach for dogs. They provide a store with all the essentials, a game room, laundry room, Rec hall, and multiple bathhouses throughout the Campground. They do trash pickup on the weekends so you can just leave your bags at the end of your site which is nice and they also provide delivery of wood/fire starter/ice to your campsite. The sites are pretty cramped and don’t offer for lots of activities to be done at your site. My only complaint are the number of dogs who bark constantly and the owners who let their dogs run off leash. Multiple times we had a dog from 3 sites down come over to our site to do his daily business at our site. For the most part, people are pretty respectful of the quiet time from 11pm-8am with the exception of the occasional door slammers at the crack of dawn. Definitely hope to return in the coming years
Massive campground made mostly for those with kids. They have two separate pools and hot tubs for kids and adults. Tons of other activities for kids- splash pad, water slides, playground, basketball court, etc. Campground has no cell service and you have to pay for WiFi which is less than ideal. They have a store with the necessities along with a ice cream stand that is open not only to the campers but the public as well so it can get pretty crowded. Quiet time is 10pm but for the most part, people were pretty quiet and respectful long before 10pm. Great place to go if you’re looking to go trail riding- trail is right across from the campground alongside the corn field.
Wonderful little campground right off the main road but far enough back that you feel like you’re in the middle of the woods! Very quiet and relaxing. Pool, bathrooms, playground, and laundry room were open even though their website says they aren’t. There’s a shell station in front of the campground (you can’t see it though from the campground) and a Dunkin’ Donuts across from that. Downtown Exeter is only about a 10-15 minute drive. The hookups are a little strange as you feel you’re going onto your neighbors site to hook up. Unfortunately our site was mostly sand and had little to no grass- it appeared most the other sites were grass covered. My only suggestion is to bring lots of bug spray!
Large, open campground surrounded by the Ashuelot River. Friendly owners who go around delivering wood and ice to guests given the pandemic right now. Shortly after arrival, Chuck stopped by to ensure we were settling in and if we needed anything. Highly suggest reading the directions on the campgrounds website about the covered bridge you’re not allowed to cross- we discovered this the hard way. River provides alright fishing if you’re looking for something to do. Only downside is it’s pretty close to the main road and you hear a majority of the traffic.
Upon first arrival we discovered that the sites are very tight and cramped. Unfortunately, everyone is on top of everyone else. The campground is 99% seasonal with only a few rental spots, a few regular weekend use spots, and about half a dozen tent sites. However, the views, the pond, and the river make it all worth it. We were fortunate enough to be camped by the pond which provided adequate fishing. The river runs along the backside of the campground and has multiple access spots for campers. The owner and the campers are all very friendly and very helpful. They have a small store that’s pretty well stocked with anything you could need or may have forgotten. If you’re looking for a larger store, there’s a Shaw’s and liquor store in Lancaster about 15 minutes away. Due to covid, we didn’t really explore the area much and just stayed at the campground. Overall, a very nice, quiet, peaceful weekend at Israel River!
If you couldn’t already tell, we absolutely loved this campground! The one owner we did meet was very pleasant and told us all about the local events within the area and where to go for groceries/dining. He then hopped onto his bike and had us follow him to our camp spot. Once there, he proceeded to direct us as we backed up into the spot. Our camp spot had an amazing view of the lake which we didn’t ask for specifically which made it even better. While the campground itself doesn’t have a lot to do, we managed to find little things here and there to keep us busy. There’s a fish hatchery nearby, the ferry to NY, Seb’s snack shack, the farmers market and a winery/vineyard. The campground also has private access to the water so we spent a lot of time down at the beach with our dog. If you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing campground filled with friendly people, I cannot recommend this place enough! I would just suggest wearing shoes into the water as the rocks are very slippery on bare feet!
We had such an incredible time while here! The campgrounds store is open until 10pm which is pretty convenient! They have a private trail about 1.6 miles there and back that leads to a swimming basin, it’s absolutely gorgeous and a must see. Quite a few activities for kids- bounce house, play ground and heated swimming pool. On Saturday nights around 7pm they blow up a projector for movie night which was a pleasant surprise. However, quiet time isn’t until 11pm which is kinda late compared to other campgrounds I’ve been too. Also, they require a $10 CASH deposit for access to the gate key which we weren’t aware of when we got here and I couldn’t find any mention of it on their website. Only about a 5 minute drive to the center of town/Walmart and about a 15-20 minute drive to the Mt Washington Auto Road. Overall a great experience!
The campground isn’t bad however there’s not much to do in the area unless you want to take a 20-30 minute drive. Campground probably isn’t suitable for kids as they have zero activities. It was a good campground for a quick weekend getaway but not a place I’d want to spend more than a couple days at.
