The state park is a great way to get away and enjoy the forests. There is plenty of space to bring lunch and have a picnic. One suggestion would be to bring a fishing rod and enjoy casting while the kids run around and play.
Sandy Hook has all the necessities you need, bathroom, shower, and the occasional food truck. There is even a trail that runs parallel to the beach making it a scenic ride. There is a cost to enter the park (unless you bike In) but it’s free after 5:00.
We picked this site because you can kayak and it’s close to the tree top adventures. Typical campground with bathrooms and showers. The best part is the lake for water activities and the surrounding things you can do.
This is a great site for those who are not avid campers. It’s close to town if you forget something and it has all the facilities you may need, bathroom, shower, etc. The best part is all the trails. Great place for hiking
My boyfriend and I decided to go to the finger lakes for two nights and camp while up there. We knew of the camp site but it’s first come first serve. Cash only, and you deposit it into a wooden box with an envelope they supply. One of the wineries also recommended staying there. We arrived late on a Thursday night but were able to find one spot. There is an outhouse but I think that may be the only facility available. My only recommendation is that you arrive earlier and set up if you’re camping during the busy season. Otherwise it fills up fast. There are plenty of places to hike and lots of wineries on the east side of the lake. Would 100% stay there again!
