Very close to Atlanta but feels far away!

Our campsite was perfect. It was right on the lake with a beautiful view. It has a path that goes down to the lake. A lot of the sites are on the lake and most sites offer ample shade. The site was level and flat and had fine gravel to avoid muddy area if it rains. There is a playground if you have small children. Easy access to lake to fish, swim, kayak, and boating. The bathrooms are dated, but clean. There is a wide Trail for walkers and bikers around the perimeter of the lake. We saw sunsets and sunrises from near our site.

No amenities but on the lake

There aren’t any amenities at this campground such as beach area on lake, walking trails, or any kayak rentals. However, our spot was right on the lake and was beautiful and peaceful. We went swimming and watched a sunset. We woke to a sunrise on the other side. Our campsite was positioned weird, but ended up being a big space.

Campground has cool restaurant & bar

The campground offers cabins and the cabin was pretty nice. It slept ten people. However, there is only one bathroom in the cabin. The toilet wasn’t working well. Aside from that the cabin was nice and fully stocked. It had a front porch with rocking chairs and a swing. It also came with a grill and fire ring. We had a group there for the white water rafting. We could walk down from the cabin to check-in for white water rafting excursion. There is a campground store at the check-in, as well. Then, there is also a super cool bar & grill in the campground. The Bus Bar offered live music on the weekends which was a ton of fun. We could walk back to the cabin after a few drinks. They also offer tent camping and RV hookups. The white water rafting trip was a blast.

Great locations on Lake Lanier

Great locations right on the lake. Our friends have a boat slip at Lake Lanier. They were able to pick us up right at our campground site. The views of the lake are awesome. We had a spacious spot, but some are right on top of each other. There are some spots that have outstanding views, but you have to reserve those well in advance. Those book up fast. Our site was shady and most sites offer some shade, but there are some in direct sun. There is a beach area for swimming, but you can swim in the lake anywhere. We swam in the cove near our site. We also kayaked at the cove. There was some loud music one night. We didn’t want to disturb the staff about it. Lake Lanier is known for parties. The park is older and bathrooms were dated, but clean. There’s not other activities other than the lake itself. It’s a small campground. The campsite was paved and level.

Beautiful views

This campground has a beautiful mountain view behind the lake. There is also a beautiful waterfall to hike to. They offer paddle boards, kayaks, peddleboats, and aqua cycles to rent for the lake. They also offer bike rentals and putt putt course. There is a general store in the visitor center. There are hiking trails for the extreme hikers too that go into the mountains on the Appalachian trail. The campsites are pretty close together, but we had a premier spot that was larger and a pull-through. The bathrooms were clean, but old and dated. This is one of the oldest campgrounds in the state. They offer cottages and cabins for rent. There was a dog parking loud constantly that was so annoying. We have dogs and many people camping there did, but our dogs don’t bark constantly. I would say this isn’t the campgrounds fault, but this irresponsible pet owner was literally between two campground hosts. Had it continued late at night past 10pm we would have had to call someone. It’s hard to relax by the fire with a dog barking constantly. The campground needs to add more signage. People are driving around looking lost. Here’s the problem … if you have an RV or camper and park in the RV spaces when you pull out on the far end to the right you cannot see the directional signs. We pulled to the right and it was a dead end at the cottages. It was very stressful trying to the turn around hauling a camper. People in the cottages told us we weren’t the only ones to pull down there and have to turn around. Lots of cars were turning around down there, but with a camper it’s a nightmare. I paid extra for a pullthrough only to deal with that nonsense at the start. I suggest adding a sign at the far right exit of parking lot that has directions. Add another sign that says “Cabins only - Dead End”. If our camper had been an inch longer we couldn’t have turned around. Not impressed by the swimming area at the beach.

Very friendly & helpful staff - new clean cabin

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The little cabin was new and very nice. The pancake breakfast was a nice feature. The location was good for passing through. There were lots of activities for kids and the campground was well maintained.

Not a campground I’d stay at again

I didn’t care for this campground. Thank goodness we had a site near the front and a larger site. The sites were stacked in top of each other. I paid extra for a deluxe site and there wasn’t anything deluxe about it. The outdoor patio furniture was rusted and falling apart. The fire ring was rusted with holes in it. The bathrooms were really old and dirty. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Right at the beach

This campground is right on the beach. Our campsite was a decent size and private. There was a gift shop and restaurant at the beach area which was very handy. They had a handicap ramp that went out onto the beach which was very nice for those that may need it. There are kayak rentals available on the bay side. The location of the campground is great and not far from downtown area. The bathrooms at the campsite were rather dirty. That was due to a family washing off the sand in the sinks of the bathroom and leaving trash everywhere though. All in all a nice campground.

Full hookups are always a plus.

This campground is first come first serve, but we happened to get a nice site that backed up to the river and woods. There isn’t any shade at these sites so it gets pretty hot. There isn’t a lot of privacy either. There are full hookups now after a major renovation of campground and that’s always a plus. There are beautiful views of the sunset at the bait shop. There is a nice camp store and the staff is friendly. Unfortunately, they did not tell me how to sign up for the rewards program when I asked so I didn’t earn points for my stay there.

Nice campground with activities

This is a great campground with lots of activities. There is a putt putt (mini golf) course. You can rent kayaks and kayak in the lake. They offered a kayak by moonlight group tour that was fun. The bathrooms are very clean. We had a huge nice site with lots of room for the pups to be on the tether. There is a camp store and the staff is friendly and helpful. The only thing was no one told us our site had full hookups. We paid for a deluxe site but nothing indicated on the reservation it had sewer connections. Had we known we would have taken showers in our own camper.

Amazing waterfalls & views

This campground offers hiking trails to gorgeous waterfalls and views. There is a nice camp store and the staff is friendly and helpful. The campsites are first come first serve, but we happened upon a private site. The bathrooms were clean and the park is well-maintained. We look forward to going back again and swimming near the waterfalls when it is hot enough.

Great campground

Sweetwater Creek State Park offers a beautiful hike along the river and ruins. You can also rent kayaks and go out on the lake. There’s a large camp store and the staff is very helpful and friendly. The bathrooms are environmentally friendly in the gift shop and a little different than one would be used to. In the campground the bathrooms are normal and clean.

Awesome campground

This is a fantastic campground. The staff is friendly and helpful. The grounds are very well maintained. There are activities offered including a wagon ride through a plantation. There is a pool. They offer bike rental, along with kayak/paddle boat rentals. There’s a great dog park our pups loved. We paid a little extra for a deluxe site with full hookups and a lake view. The deluxe site also had a concrete pad, brick fire pit, and a swing. It was a shady spot with big oak trees. There is a nice camp store. The location of this campground is perfect near stores, restaurants, and not far from the beach.

Near Blue Ridge & on the lake

Campground is on the lake and offers kayak rentals. There’s also a swimming area. The location is near Blue Ridge. We went over to Blue Ridge Marina that was nearby for dinner & live music. The bathrooms are okay at the campground and relatively clean. We were using the older bathroom near our site, but there were new bathrooms available. Our site was a little hard to back our RV into up a hill. Otherwise, It was a nice spot.

Favorite campground of all we’ve been to.

We love this campground and go there every year now. We get a campsite on the river side which offers bigger spots and shade. They offer sites right on the beach too. The bathrooms are the best of any campsite I’ve gone to. The bathrooms are very clean and air conditioned. The river side offers the most beautiful sunsets and lots of dolphins. The beach side is many miles of private beach that’s not crowded. The Fort offers tours and has a small gift shop.

Right at the beach

We stayed at the Live Oaks portion of the campground which is on the marsh side and 1/2 mile from the beach. There are sites right on the beach that we will tryout next time. The Live Oaks sites are more private and shaded. It was a quiet campground. The bathrooms were okay, but not very clean. The bugs are very bad so bring bug repellant. The beach is beautiful and not crowded. The State Park is well-maintained.

Love the adult only camping section on the creek

We had a primitive tent site right on the flowing creek and at a small waterfall. It was so peaceful. This section is adults only which was quiet. The campground offers a lot of kid activities in another part of the campground including a petting zoo and in-ground trampolines. This campground is along the Appalachian Trail and you can hike to see beautiful waterfalls. There is a great camp store and the staff is friendly. The bathrooms come in handy with a primitive site, but they are far away from those sites. There’s an outhouse only near the adult campsites. The campsites are small, so you get to know your neighbors. The RV sites are right on top of each other too.

Spots right on the lake, but no shady spots

This is a nice campground and well-maintained. The sites are first come first serve so you don’t get to pick out your site in advance. Luckily we found a spot right on the lake. We brought our kayaks and could put in right down the hill from our site. We had not bought purchase RV yet and had to set up our tent on the gravel pad site. There was no shade and we were burning up in the summer heat. There is a swimming area and trails for hiking or biking. We were near the fishing dock and the kids fished. It was just so brutally hot that we ended up leaving a day early.

Great family campground with lots of activities

This campground is inside Stone Mountain Park. Stone Mountain Park has many attractions you can do. Most attractions cost extra, but you get discounts when you are staying at the campground. The laser show is free and there is a convenient trolley that takes you to/from your campsite. The campground has a pool and activities like an Ice Cream social. There are spots right on the lake. We brought our kayaks and put in right from our site. The lake is very peaceful to kayak because motorized boats aren’t allowed. Our site was very shady which helps with the summer heat. The bathrooms were clean, but we used our RV mostly. The site was very spacious. We did the Ride the Ducks attraction which picked us up from the campground. The staff at the campground is very helpful and friendly.
