I don’t mind paying a little extra some places because of being out of state, but paying $54 a night for not even any hookups when MA residents pay $17 is insane.

The lake is gorgeous and there are nice hiking trails, but sites are very small and close together. Let’s are allowed in less than half of the campground, which means all the dogs are in a smaller area and barking at each other more than other places. The no-pet area was practically empty when we were there midweek but the pets-allowed area was much more crowded than we would have liked.

Also rules and signage are wildly confusing, lots of things contradict each other. Cell service exists but not great for remote work.

Lots of road noise at this location. Only two spots across from each other, really nice if no ones in the other one but annoying if someone is. Great Verizon service and nearby walking trail. Overall a decent site unless you’re looking for something with amenities.

Gets kinda loud on the weekend but still lots of open spots. Affordable with hookups, decent showers. Grass is well taken care of and the lake is pretty.

This campground was really gorgeous, not extremely well-maintained but maintained enough.

However, many of the campers had complete disregard for other people and the environment. We had to ask multiple sets of children to stop running through our campsite (we have dogs that hate that), everybody’s dogs were running loose (I saw one go after a pack of deer and several almost-dogfights occurred), and people blatantly disregarded campground rules in place to protect the environment.

We were there on a Thursday and it was incredibly peaceful, then as soon as the weekend came it was full of drunk people yelling and kids and dogs running wild. We switched our site for more privacy, which helped but the front desk is weirdly intense about us verification for it - I couldn’t switch because the site wasn’t in my name so my partner had to walk all the way to the front. I don’t get why they’re so strict at the front desk then let people do whatever they want in the campground.

This place is great midweek, I’d avoid the weekend. Some sites have electric, most are far from water. Pretty pricey for what you get. Also the road up has tons of potholes, but we were able to avoid basically all of them in our 20 foot van by just swerving into the middle as needed. Probably harder if pulling anything behind you but lots of people do it.

Mostly big rigs, camped there in a van. Hookups were good. Sites spacious but not very private, we were lucky to get one on the edge. Lake is nothing special and no hiking trails or anything, seemed to be mostly boating or fishing.

Very quiet mid-week in May, which was lovely. The bathrooms suck and I saw a copperhead right by the bathhouse so be careful.

We found a great spot for our van that was right on the water and mostly secluded. Got pretty busy on the weekend and people had loose dogs that were causing some problems, but otherwise very chill. Lake is beautiful, decent cell service with Verizon. Pit toilets in good shape when we arrived Thursday afternoon but kind of rough by the end of the weekend.

Camp in main area to be near toilets, otherwise there’s lots of loops near the water where you can find sites with more privacy. No trash so pack it out.

It was pretty crowded and most car camping sites were taken when we got in at 8pm on a Wednesday in may. Some folks appeared to be staying long-term and had left their dogs completely unattended with only one tied up so they were just wandering the campground.

We left after a night because cell service wasn’t very good (1 bar on Verizon/at and t/t mobile) and the loose dog repeatedly wandering into our campsite was upsetting our dog. Sites down the trail for tents seemed okay.

This campground was essentially an RV park. Only big rigs, some sites well spaced physically but no privacy in between so feels like everyone staring at each other. Some of the waterfront sites okay privacy-wise, but not most. Hookups work well, but bathrooms in terrible condition - especially showers.

The whole place also smells like dead fish. We saw a raccoon go right through our campsite so be careful what you leave out, also tons of geese and saw two baby copperheads.

The lake is at least really pretty and there’s a small beach area.

One of the best forest service campgrounds I’ve stayed in. Beautiful and well maintained, lots of great hiking trails leaving directly from campground.

A lot of sites are too slanted for a van or RV, but amazing for tent camping. If you’re staying in a vehicle I recommend doing first come first serve or extensive research. The more slanted sites also are much more secluded - we couldn’t even see our neighbors most of the time. Unfortunately sound echoes so you can hear everything.

No hookups and super shady so solar is difficult. Was on Verizon extended network and had hotspot service from at and t and t mobile.

This campground had some good features: hookups and bathhouse were good, location is very pretty, staff clearly take good care of things. Mostly older folks mid week so pretty quiet.

But for some reason there is a path that goes through several campsites. We booked one of these sites without knowing (B12), which meant we had strangers walking through our campsite all the time. Our dogs hated it and so did we! Also sites are close together, most aren’t level, and some are in clear disrepair. They also do a good job cleaning the bathhouses, but they do it from 8-9am which is also when many people are trying to use them.

This campground is full of beautiful lakeside sites! Many are well-spaced, but some are close together. We camped with our van in one of the tent sites because the rv sites were full.

The drawbacks are that the bathhouse is pretty old and FAR from most of the sites and there aren’t any hiking trails. But this place is great if you love boating or don’t need a bathhouse.

The sites are very close together here and you can expect it to usually be booked up. However, the facilities are in great condition and there are lots of short trails to amazing vistas.

They also sell $6 firewood, which is the cheapest I’ve seen in a while. Checking in is confusing because they don’t send you any info on what to do or how to get to your site (there’s two campgrounds, don’t go to the wrong one). You are supposed to stop at the visitor center to check in.

Stayed with our van in the primitive sites here and had a great time! Very affordable and not many other campers (but if the group camp sites are booked I’d go elsewhere, they’re very close). The bathroom is super far away, but there was a portable potty for a few days until they inexplicably took it away. If you have a camping bathroom setup and are comfy going to get water if needed, it’s a great value and gives you want more privacy.

Also the showers here are the best I’ve ever experienced at a campground. They have signs saying you can shower for $5 even if you don’t camp here.

The sites themselves here are really nice, but they’re very close together so you only get privacy when it’s empty. Bathhouse currently closed indefinitely for repairs but they’re still charging full price, looks like it does have laundry when it opens. Campground is on top of a big hill so hard to get to anything else in the park without driving.

Decent cell service, if you ask rangers will bring firewood to your site for $8/bundle.

Pretty basic campground, kind of just a bunch of spots in a field. About half are first come first serve, was there during the week and it was pretty empty. Not great for big rigs, a lot of the sites are too small.

The river is gorgeous, I was sad it was too cold to swim! Only one bathhouse in the car camping area so it’s gets pretty busy. Excellent cell service.

We had a nice time but weren’t particularly wowed, our only issues were lack of hookups, bad weather, and some people who decided to crowd us and run a loud generator despite the campground being mostly empty.

Stayed here for a week and loved it, although it was a bit busy for our sensitive dogs. If you are in a van or small RV the electric lane sites down the hill are WAY nicer than the RV sites, you just won’t have a water hookup. Very pretty and the sites are well-spaced, my only complaints are that people have too many dogs off leash and the shower setup is kinda weird (but hot and good pressure, just nowhere to get dressed).

I would stay here again! There’s also shuttle service to town if you call which is great, and wood and snacks for sale. Everyone is friendly. Excellent Verizon service but spotty wifi and I think poor service with other carriers.

We spent a lovely three nights here, we were the only ones camping although a huge family did come and have a sprawling Easter picnic on one of the days. Camping area is pretty bootleg but has everything you need, just watch out for mice and ticks. I was thrilled to find somewhere so quiet that had pit toilets and water and walking trails, and our dogs were happy about a campsite where no one else was around.

Pat and Wanda are very nice and I hope folks support their dream! That being said, know that this place is very much still under construction. We had the bad luck of coming after a snowmelt and being there during some subsequent bad weather, which meant it was extremely muddy, the trash was full, and the porta poddy was getting full (plus it ran out of tp and we used our own. I think that’s probably different in better weather. Also it’s listed as having laundry but it doesn’t!

Unfortunately while we were there I got a bad cut on my hand and needed to leave a day early go to urgent care. We got stuck in the mud then tried unsuccessfully to get ahold of Pat for 2 hours, although he was very helpful when he finally came. But be careful parking in any sites, especially lower ones, if there’s been much precipitation.

Otherwise our stay was cold and wet but quiet. Lights at the sites are a nice touch. No Verizon service, there’s wifi but it’s not very good in some sites.

I have been to many music festivals here, and always find myself impressed by the view and the river. Lots of great site options for whatever your preference is! It's also a convenient walking or driving distance from the rest of town.
