Great “base camp” for hiking Osceola & East Osceola. Easy access from I-93. Really great for access to Tripoli road, Waterville Valley.
Bathrooms clean. Showers clean. Host was excellent and knowledgeable. Loved advising campers where to go, what trails to checkout.
Sites vary dramatically in size, ground levelness etc. we lucked out. Site 44 was plenty large enough for our tent. A little gravely underneath but still comfortable. We don’t use an air mattress.
Other sites looked like nothing but tree roots.
Split 50:50 as far as reservable sites and first come first serve.
Only issue I could see was was on both loops the south side sites were too close to the road. Partially visible and too much road noise. (same side of the entrance). Not that Route 49 gets a lot of traffic.
Just a weekend stay up in Twin Mountains. Check in was fast and efficient. Site was clean, plenty big enough. We tented, but majority of sites were for RVs. Good mix of seasonal campers and daily.
Pool was small but sized right for the size of the campground. Price is great. Even reasonable prices on wood.
Nice little covered storage open style shed on the site… at first confused why it was there, but it makes for a handy little spot to store gear and keep everything dry.
Perfect area for fishing on the river. Hiking Mount Hale or Zealand…. etc
Truly incredible. Highly recommend joining the AMC outdoors.org, before booking at any of the AMC huts. The member discount quickly offsets membership costs.
We stayed here while doing the Presidential Traverse.
If you’re planning on trying to do 2-3 consecutive nights at multiple huts (like Madison Spring and Mizpah) book as early as you can. These are popular.
Being able to get both dinner and a hearty breakfast was great. The camaraderie of being with other outdoor enthusiasts (all of us tired) was fun. My son (8yrs old) loved the experience.
Amazing views of the night sky when clear.
