There is no potable water available, not even a water fountain. People and animals cannot touch the water. You cannot fish or swim in the lake. There is no reduction in price. This may be temporary, but it has been this way for at least a year.
Site exactly as described. It is quiet with a view of an Olive Tree farm.
Even with all the rain, the lake isn’t very full. The campground, including the bathroom, was clean. It was difficult to figure out what to do when we reached the campground, because there is no one at the entrance. A ranger came around at some point, who was able to answer our questions. The sites are small, but there are some with great views of the lake.
Good experience overall. There are many kinds of sites including full hook up, partial, primitive, cabins & yurts. Many sites have views of the lake.
The sites are close together. The place is old, but it has a great location. There are great hiking trails assessable from the campground. There is a nearby store, and you are close enough to Santa Cruz to spend a day on the boardwalk.
We’ve camped here many times over the last 15 years. We’ve tent camped on primitive sites and camped with a pop-up with electricity & water. None of the full hookup sites have a view but some of the tent sites do. There isn’t much fishing now, because the water is so low, but there are still pretty hikes to be had and water slides if it’s hot. We’ve been to the ropes course too, which is really fun.
This is one of our favorite places to camp. The sites are spacious with potable water and the chemical toilets are actually clean. The host is friendly and sells wood, if you don’t bring enough.
Pros ▫️Sites are big & have amazing views. ▫️Common area is really cool ▫️Hosts are friendly and welcome you with a glass of wine or beer and give you a tour of the property ▫️Dog friendly
Cons ▫️Some sites have highway noise ▫️It very expensive for primitive camping. $75 is the base for one person. Then, you add $50 per day, per additional person. It’s a minimum of $125 per day for two people + Hipcamp adds a daily mystery fee. Hipcamp fee seems to be a progressive percentage of the total. It is probably around $10 a day for this property.
