The campgrounds had a variety of tree shaded areas and some pretty large spots near the lake. The spots near the lake went quickly but there were a few lovely spots to hang a hammock that were stunning. Lovely deer, ducks, and toads everywhere. There were also several different sections of the campground to choose from for privacy.
Pros Beautiful lake view Cute lake village area to visit nearby Lovely animals Bear boxes in every campsite Lovely hosts in 2024 Flush toilets ✅
Cons Steep drive in A bit pricey A bit buggy but not bad Some exposed campsites
Site #1 is an absolute gem 💎
Pros ✨F*cking beautiful surroundings ✨ Tiny adorable lizards everywhere Right on the water to help keep cool Beautiful colorful birds are abundant Very affordable Site #1 specifically -super private -great shade until noon
Cons RIDICULOUS BUGS AFTER DARK -saw a camel spider 💀 -lots of gnats -got a huge spider bite right away -not too many mosquitos Very hot during mid-day (obviously) No direct water access Sites 2 and 3 seem really hot and sunny 🥵🔥
Overall, I think it's a great campground in the area of arches and canyon lands and it's drop dead gorgeous. I would avoid all the camp grounds on this river if you can't handle bugs or don't like the cute little lizards vibing around you.
Lots of sites, plenty of walk-ins, 2024 hosts are AWESOME ♥️ Moose in the campground
A pretty, shady place to stay. I think the hosts really put it over the edge for me, they brought my husband and I home-made chocolate chip cookies, thanks guys ♥️
Pros Close to Tetons Decently affordable (I think $17?) Large campground for decent privacy Plenty of free firewood to collect Maybe the cleanest pit toilets ever Nice bear boxes Moose wander through in the evenings Little town 10 mins away Wonderful 2024 hosts
Cons Pretty buggy :( Very steep and difficult drive through the Teton pass (be careful<3) Not the most private sites if full
Not a bad place to stay to explore the Teton mountains :)
The proximity to Yellowstone, the price, and the charm of this place made me love it, but I think there are a few things that would annoy people.
Pros Really close to Yellowstone Really cheap ($10 normal, $5 with America the Beautiful pass) Beautiful tucked away campsites in large boulders Adorable bunnies living in the sites Great shade in some spots Gorgeous valley very nearby Great place for bouldering Very few bugs
Cons Very near the highway Some pretty open spots Gross toilets Landslide risk (gave me bad anxiety the whole time) Only 2 bear boxes on campground No water
I think it's a fantastic place to stay for exploring Yellowstone but not private enough to feel really outdoors. Site #9 is GORGEOUS, I would highly recommend it. :)
