Separated from the highway by a nice buffer of trees and the creek. This little campground has all the basics- tables, fire pits, grills, garbage cans, vault toilets. The surroundings are nice and the stars are bright. Nice stop to rest for the night when traveling through.
The location was cool, remote and pretty quiet (only the sounds of other campers). I recommend getting there in daylight, we didn't and it was difficult to tell what was where as far as campsites. Facilities weren't great, but they were there.
This is a nice spot and we enjoyed our stay. Great scenery, nice to have a shade and table. While it wasn't private, we didn't feel right up against the other sites.
Not being from Utah, the hours limiting when you can come and go from the campground were annoying. We arrived the first night after they closed, so we had to park on the street and carry our tent and bags down a desert hillside to our spot. We still enjoyed our stay, I'm just pointing it out for others who haven't come across this before. Where I'm from if a campground has hours, it means there won't be someone there to pay when they're closed- that's not the case here. You actually can't get in if they're closed.
Very nice facility. We stayed in a tent, the tent sites are away from the RVs. Nice setting across a creek and in the trees. Beautiful starry sky at night, and we woke up to an impressive amount of birds singing. Take bug spray!! Mosquitoes were awful in the evening before we got spray on.
The bathrooms and showers are clean and nice. They have a pool and soaking tubs from the natural hot springs (unfortunately we didn't get time to check these out thoroughly, they look nice though!) Bit of a walk to the restroom from the tent sites, but there is a portapotty closer if you prefer.
We stayed in a cabin here. The cabin was great, perfect size for relaxing for a few days. The kitchen/fridge/front porch grill were great. Full bathroom. We used an air mattress on the bed over the pad that was provided.
The trees/forest were beautiful, and so was the ocean, which is a short walk away. You can sit on the front porch and watch the sunset through the trees while listening to crashing waves. That's hard to beat! We also hiked to Cape Lookout (a little over 9 miles out and back from the cabin). Great vacation!
