Not far off the main road into Hog Canyon just north of town. Good clearance was helpful because they plow the sand sometimes and there’s a lip to get into the site.
Stayed at the site with the overhanging cave which is an awesome group campsite. In the summer I’d assume it’s always taken because of the accessibility.
About 4 miles off the main road. 4X4 recommended, good clearance and tough tires are a must. Worth the drive if you can make it.
Tucked away in the canyon it’s quiet and isolated. Each site (especially 3) has room for a couple vehicles. Perfect for group fires. No wood collecting, so bring firewood.
Incredible views and not a sound for miles. Worth the drive, anyone who does it without 4x4 and good clearance is a beast or is just ok with trashing their car. Driving south on Island in the Sky road turn left onto the “Big Flat Trail” according to Apple Maps at 38.50379° N, 109.80542° W. Then there will be an obvious fork to the right that leads to the edge of the canyon.
