We loved this campground. We did not visit pool/hottub or bathrooms… had a camper delivered and towed our boat up. Perfect spot on the Sante Fe with the Ichetucknee and Suwanee rivers super close. Huge dockage and nice spot for overflow/trailer parking.
The park it self was very nice we got a River spot and loved it.
We did get take out from the bar, it was bar food. Wifi is bad, like real bad but you are in the woods. Had enough on my mifi to stream Dinner and a Movie for NYE. Speaking of NYE they had a Motley Crew cover band, social distancing and masks are not a thing in this part of Florida, like the posters from the health department don't even mention masks, so if COVID is still a thing prepare yourself. There is one gas station within a few miles and that is it. Bring everything you need or eat bar food.
This place is awesome. Like other reviewers mentioned it does get packed. We showed up on the Sunday but Monday morning it was a ghost town. We towed the boat and got a camper delivered to one of the only full hook up sites. #138 plenty of room for a 5th wheel and truck and boat. BUT it was our first time here and we didn't know they had water sites so come Monday with the mass exodus we got a second water site to hang out on and leave the boat tied up in the water at. The boat ramp is onsite and they have plenty of parking but the ramp is super narrow and the current rips through there. 2nd site #38 on the water and had a fire ring, which all sites do not have at this park. So many little islands to explore with your own personal beach, there is even an island attached by bridge you can walk to with beaches. Great find.
Brought the boat, brought the dogs and got to explore the Indian River Lagoon which is teaming with wildlife. Boat ramp on site and if you get one of the RV spots there's enough room to keep your boat at your site. Even though the campground was in a residential type area as soon as you enter you are in the woods. Great little spot to camp, will return.
This may be my favorite campground ever. Huge sites, HUGE trees, absolutely breathtaking. Showed up mid September, was basically a ghost town, got to pick our site, has flush toilets, bear boxes, what more could a girl ask for! The drive to Kings Canyon is phenomenal, and head south to visit the General, mind blowing.
Planned out a trip with reservations for months but due to fires and hurricanes our reservations were null and void. We were able to score one night a Tuolumne and for the next three just head to the ranger station in the am and request to stay. We stayed in mid September, very cold nights, but doable with proper tent, cot, insulated pad and sleeping bag this Florida girl survived. Loved this campground, no crowds like the Valley, and beauty everywhere you look. Perfect place to camp to check out both Lake Mono & the Valley. The Tuolumne Meadows store has an attached quick serve restaurant that was a blessing for coffee and breakfast, food was excellent.
There are 10 spots, first come first serve, they are arranged in a circle above the day use parking lot. You will have to carry your gear up you cannot park next to your site, no fires allowed. Bit of a rough ride to get up there but totally worth it. There are bears! Although I didn’t see one apparently according to our neighbor he walked right behind me. L Really beautiful and kinda eerie crystal clear lake. You are in the middle of nowhere. Get gas before you go up, the town has signs saying last chance for gas and make sure you have everything you need including water because you will be all by yourself and there is nothing out there. Great trails right from site.
HOT! This place can get hot in the summer. Always a fun time at The Gorge. The views of the river can’t be beat. You are in close proximity to your neighbors so get to know them. Make sure you bring everything you need cause you are not leaving once you are onsite. Not the greatest place to camp but the music venue can’t be beat.
Quileute Oceanside Resort is on the Quileute Reservation on the beach. They have hotel type rooms, and RV park, a few spots in the trees for tents and you can tent camp and have fires directly on the beach. This spot is unbelievably beautiful and everyone who lives & works there were extremely nice. There are pay hot showers and a general store. The beach is fantastic.
Anastasia State Park is one of my favorite spots in Florida. You are in the woods with great trees but you can hear the ocean. There is so much to do! Beach, kayaking, fishing, bike riding, hikes and if somehow you get bored you can cross the bridge into St. Augustine and have a blast there too. What I love about Anastasia is it backs up to a music venue. There is a path through the woods with a coded gate just for campers to enter the venue.
Spirit of the Swuannee is a great music venue, camping is good if you find the right spot. If you want short walk to the venue they pack you in like sardines. We brought a trailer with us last show so rented an electric site. A bit farther from the venue where we were in Renaissance but it was fantastic. We scored a corner site so had a huge amount of space with neighbors only on one side. You could listen to music right from your site if you like. Bathrooms were a little funky and since we were car camping we brought a 5 gallon bucket one and made a private privy with a tarp and some trees.
Loved Cougar Rock but it didn't love us. We flew out there with our Florida gear in September, place was deserted except a few RV’s dispersed, had the place to ourselves, saw no other tents. Place was absolutely gorgeous, quite, and green. We froze to death and only lasted one night before booking it to Paradise to stay in the park motel. Bit of a drive but when in Rainier head out to Mowich Lake, totally worth it!
We saw only one other camper on the way in, there were no water facilitys so bring your own or use the creek, they did have pit toilets. Only stayed one night but it was beautiful.
Great little campground on the water. Pods of orca swim by all day. Reservations are a bit hard to get, make sure to try to stay in the off season after school gets back in. The only complaint of this park I have is quiet time is at 10PM, which I am fine with being quiet but you have to have your fire out at 10PM. Basically you are told to go to bed. Wildlife more than made up for it, seals, foxes, deer and whales. If you want to get closer to the orcas check out Maya's Legacy Whale Watching.
Camped at Fish Creek for a week, it was hard to get a reservation for an entire week so we moved our tent half way through. This campground is amazing. We stayed in loop C 125 and 130 both great sites. 125 closer to the bathroom but 130 less traffic. The crazy thing about this campground is that I had cell connection only at our sites pretty much the whole trip, leave the immediate area and gone. This could be good or bad depending on if you like people being able to contact you when camping, I don't, nothing airplane mode can't fix. GO TO POLEBRIDGE, then head up to one of the lakes that are further up the road. Go to Many Glacier for bears :)
The park itself is great, lots of killer mountain bike trails and the Loxahatchee river is beautiful. Personally, I hate the campgrounds there is no privacy and it's mostly concrete, they cut down too many trees. That being said this is in my backyard and I remember it when it was completely wooded, I may be a bit jaded.
There are still a couple of spots by the river that are good. Don't bother with the Pine Grove camping it's all RV all the time, no trees at all.
The boat ramp is great and has access to the Loxahatchee, inlet and intracoastal. Tons of wildlife to be seen from land and water.
