This is another example of why I just love our state parks here in Florida. Campground is set up on the river. Great small boat and kayak access right at the campgrounds. Lots of great trails for hiking. Sites are a little closer then most SPs I have visited but for the price of this one at 16 a night we will totally be back.
What a beautiful park. The sites have full Hook up. We where at site 50 and it was completely shaded. They where still under major construction redoing the beach and boat docks. But we still really enjoyed this park. Super close to town to get supplies and dinner.
We really loved this park. Do not leave any food or your cooler out. We had visits from deer everyday. The campground is at the back of this park and Sonia the boat launch. We put our kayaks in and went paddling up the salt marshes. Very peaceful day. Be sure to visit the fort. It is very cool to walk around and see the underground bunkers. So much history here I never knew about.
We spent 14 nights here Oct 2020. Not one day where we disappointed. Beautiful park with full hook ups. People here where super friends and there are people working on the park keeping it clean everyday. Super close to town to go get dinner and supplies. Very close to Boone, Blowing Rock and the Blue Ridge Parkway. If you want a great Mexican meal go to Dos Amigos. We went three times because it was just that good.
