Spacious, clean and beautiful!

This is a wonderful spot for camping. The sites are well laid out so that you're not in your neighbor's business, and have plenty of room to make yourself at home in each site. The campground doesn't offer day use, so the small, well laid out boat launch and lake access areas aren't super crowded. The hosts are friendly and everything was VERY clean. Highly recommend.

Great Quick Access Rafting Campground

We stayed at Maupin City Park between days rafting on the Deschutes. There was a happy vibe to the campground itself, and the facilities were clean and well-stocked.

We enjoyed the proximity to the Imperial River Company restaurant, and quick short drive to a convenience store to restock supplies before our last day on the river.

The sites aren't huge and are packed pretty close together, but that's not a huge issue when just making a pit stop. Parking for trailers is available, and everything is just a minute from the river itself.

Boat tie-ups are available on the river that lead directly into the campground, so you don't have to pull up your boat for the night, and unloading is simple on the concrete dock.

Solid rafting drop-in campground

This campground isn't full of amenities, but it isn't designed to be. This spot is a secluded, well-laid out campground for a night before rafting, or a good stop along the river. There is a tight tunnel to drive through, likely your large RV width won't fit. The bathrooms were clean, and river access is well-designed. Parking a trailer was easy too. Sites were spread out, and there's a great view of the river from 2/3 of them.

Great dog and family friendly campground

Pelton park was clean and well taken care of during our visit. The park is very family-friendly, with easy physical access to restrooms, the docks and playground equipment. Pet-friendly too, stocked poo bags, poles by restrooms to hold leashes and a small fenced-in area to let the dogs run and play. Docks were clean and safe. Rental boats were well-maintained. The yomes are small, 6 people and 2 dogs is tight and gear had to stay outside with that many people, but we all fit. The lake itself is beautiful, good fishing, and appreciate the 10mph speed limit throughout the majority of the lake.

Beautiful Lake and Stars!!

We visited Horseshoe Lake campground in mid-June and saw some snow still on the ground! This campground is not accessible for those not familiar with their vehicle's capabilities, or who have crummy tires, the drive in is ROUGH.

We stayed in Site 7, perfect for 3-4 small tents, or 1-2 large ones. It appears to be the largest site, and a short walk to the only vault toilet. Most of the sites are fairly private. This one is right on the road, bit with only 10 sites and very little through traffic, this wasn't any sort of problem. It was right on the lake, and though the mosquiotos were out in full force, it's not unexpected, and was only annoying until we got a nice fire going.

We camped while the campgound was technically closed, but were okayed to do so by the camp hosts at Olallie Lake. With that, the lake wasn't stocked with fish, and it wasn't busy, just some other quiet campers like us.

There are several beautiful lakes nearby with hikes and canoeing and fishing available, which we took advantage of as well.

The stars were out in full force since the light pollution was zero, which made for an amazing nightime view.

Overall a great quick trip, and somewhere I'd for sure camp in again.

Not for campers who like privacy, great location close to downtown Newport

This is a huge campground with sites really close to the next one. If you are going to Newport to see the sites and tool around, this is a good spot to call home base, especially if you have a trailer/RV. If you're looking for a quiet, backwoods style campgound, this is not for you. If you stay in the H or I loops, you'll get a quieter, more private spot, which was nice. Bathrooms were clean, and there were lit pathways to help find them in the dark. Everything was really well kept, and the welcome host was super friendly. Close access to the beach is a bonus.

Eclipse weekend at Olallie Lake

We decided to camp last-minute for the eclipse, and found an amazingly open spot on the east side of Monon lake. While we weren't technically in Peninsula Campground we were very close. We had a lakefront viewing spot for the eclipse from our small, but well laid out campsite.

The road in from any direction is very bumpy and full of rocks, and can be daunting if you're not used to driving on that kind of terrain. If you don't have good tires, don't attempt. Stopped at Olallie store on the way in, friendly folks, and very reasonable prices considering the location. It's very dusty in the summer, so be prepared to cover everything and keep it inside a vehicle or tent if you don't want it filthy. This is a quiet camping area, no tunes please. The boyfriend kayaked on Monon lake, and did some bank fishing on Olallie and caught two trout pretty quickly.

We were close enough to walk to a vault toilet when necessary, which were the cleanest I've ever been in. The woods bathroom situation was sparse during the day, hard to go anywhere without being seen. Time to buy a privacy shower/toilet tent

Since we only camped for one night, wasn't able to hit any trails, but really enjoyed our short time there. We will be back.

Great for Crabbing

We spent a week Kelly's over the 4th of July holiday weekend and week. Lots of campers in and out, but Kelly brought in plenty of clean port-a-potties and kept them that way all weekend. Showers are old, but warm, and the girls working the crab pit were always happy to serve up some great seafood. Not a remote, quiet place, but that's not it's intention. The view of the bay is lovely, and we could even see a full fireworks show without having to fight traffic.
