Great spots, and full Cell Service

Awesome dispersed camping with stellar cell service, close enough to Escalante that you can drive in quickly for groceries or water. Just mind the cows!

Use Cape Royal Road for better views

We went out FR67 until we hit Cape Royal road, and turned left on it until we hit the North Rim trail. We camped at the trailhead (there are 3 spots) and had incredible sunset and sunrise views of the canyon.

Great Campground in the middle of GCNP

Awesome campground, lots of dispersed areas. We camped right by the lookout tower, and while it was a little noisy with neighbors, it was awesome to drive out of the dirt road and be back in the middle of the national park.

Good for tents, not for campers

Great for tent camping, but no pull-in or flat spots if you're sleeping in your vehicle. I slept in the equestrian campground since those were back-in sites, but if there are horses you're not allowed to do that. The hike to the base of Langley was great though!

Good dispersed camping, big enough for an RV

I was directed to these sites by a park ranger when all the campgrounds in the national parks were full. Great sites, with the first being big enough for a small RV. Also a quick walk  to the Chicago Stump which is a must see.

Nice dispersed camping, big enough for an RV

Super convenient free camping between Sequoia and Kings Canyon national parks. A park ranger directed me here when all the campgrounds in the park were full. There are sites all along the road,  but the first at the junction is great and big enough for a small RV. Also a quick walk to the Chicago Stump which is a must see.

Incredible Campground

One of the coolest campgrounds I've been to. Not much to say that hasn't already been said,  but if you have any kind of 4x4 vehicle be sure to drive it back into the rocks a ways, there are some great tucked in sites.

Incredible views, and Free!

This was a perfect campground for Big Sur, just past the Plaskett Creek campground which is expensive and requires reservations. I drove up the road for about 20 minutes and found a perfect pullout overlooking the ocean between two apple trees, blissful to say the least. I showed up around 5 pm and there were still a lot of sites open.

No pullouts, and no camping

As soon as you turn onto this road there is a sign saying no camping next to road, plus I drove about 30 minutes back onto it and could only find one semi-feasible pullout. I went north just five minutes to Plaskett Ridge dispersed camping, that was much better.

Great free dispersed camping, sheltered but by the beach

Great camping with quite a few spots both in the aspens and in the grasslands by the beach. It was pretty buggy, and a long dirt road getting in, but as long as it's dry and you've got 4x4 you should be fine. Sites have quite a bit of trash, remember to pack out what you pack in.

Incredible free campsite

This free site was better than most state parks! Drive in spots with picnic tables and fire pits, clean bathrooms, and cool petroglyphs. Be sure to walk to the top of the ridge at sunset for some incredible views.

Great Dispersed Camping

Awesome dispersed camping, a little sheltered from the wind up against the hills, with great views and killer sunrises. Lots of spots, just keep driving out the road till you find one you like. Watch out for rattlesnakes.
