Family of 5 traveling the US full time in our Fifth Wheel

Pricey but good value

Kind staff, well cared for pools, activity center, bathrooms, laundry, and roads (important since it’s right on the beach!). The beach is the highlight of course and walking distance no matter where you’re parked in the campground. Great culture - everyone has been so friendly. Easy location to all conveniences. Some sites are small and tight but man, people squeeze in!! The descriptions of sites when booking are helpful in knowing what will work for your setup. This is a splurge for us to be at the beach for a week. I’m glad it’s proving to be worth the price.

Great for families!

In mid October the campground is still running kids activities daily and they’re good! Great culture here - friendly, lots of things to do (pool, basketball, volleyball, horse shoes, playground, billiards, karaoke, tennis). We lost power twice here which was unfortunate but lasted 90 minutes once and 4-5 hours the other time. Lots to do in the area - we made 2 day trips to Monterey and Carmel by the Sea and spent time in Morgan Hill and Gilroy.

All that you need!

Quick one night stay here. The water pressure is MEH, the full hookups are nice, showers and bathrooms are decent but bring your shower sandals! Everyone is packed in tight, I’d have trouble staying here longer than a couple nights, also it’s pretty pricey!! Great location to Little Bighorn National Monument and Native / Custer history. They’ve got 9 pull through sites so big rig friendly!

Above average KOA

The pool was fabulous! The kids area was so nice - a playground and a jump pad! Store, laundry, and bathrooms were clean as can be. Sites were tight, minimal grass, butttt the trees were mature enough to offer shade - yay! Didn’t find too much to do in Yankton beyond walking across the old bridge to Nebraska and back! The town park had live music, a park, and was very nice to walk around. For us it was a quick 3 nights so my husband could work - Verizon service was acceptable but not great, maybe a bit overloaded because most sites on premises were booked.

The views are truly breathtaking!

Make sure to take the entrance in farther from Wall, I found 2 coordinates given to turn in while searching on The Dyrt. While we visited the winds did pick up to 50+ mph and it was quite scary! For the convenience of the location with great Verizon service, you can’t beat it! Free and fabulous views. We have a 37 foot fifth wheel and beware the road can be bumpy and uneven but it doesn’t last too long. Would be great to get out and bike to scout for a spot, it can and does get busy!

Tons of amenities but long drive to the natural wonders

During a hot week mid June, we were grateful for full hookups, clean shower facilities, and a (small) pool to keep cool BUT the little trees beside each site provide no shade for the rigs. They provide breakfast and dinner for a fee if interested and have live music, wine tastings … no shortage of things to do on site and a good culture for families and retirees alike! We would’ve liked to be closer to the sites The Black Hills provides but we became accustomed to hour long drives or more to Custer for all the must-do things there! Deadwood and Devils Tower were 75 min and 2 hrs. The campground provided a printout with all the local attractions and how far they were! So helpful. Highly recommend Sylvan Lake hike(s), watching the Buffalo herds near the Wildlife Visitor Center at dusk, and feeding the Burros at the southeast corner - bring carrots and apples! Mt Rushmore and others are obvious things to see! I’ll quickly reiterate, facilities were always very clean! The convenience store didn’t have anything that interested us besides ice BUT it could be helpful to many in a pinch or even looking for souvenirs.

Gorgeous & Clean

Packed over the weekend but a great culture here, lots of room between sites. Bathrooms and showers kept very clean. Water hookups throughout but we were farther than 50 feet and had to fill up when we arrived. Gravel mound on lots of sites so it was a bit tricky to back in and level but we managed. Beach is quite rocky but water was refreshing and we still enjoyed our time swimming and playing. Lots of shade! Highly recommend this campground. Flies were annoying, but not terrible… might get worse?
