This was a great stay to break up our drive home! While the local area is not the nice you won’t really need to leave the campground once there. Kids loved the activities. Very little room in between sites but this is built for overnight interstate traffic. Facilities and staff were great. BBQ dinner and ice cream social excellent!
Beautiful! A lot of drive by activity during the day but very peaceful at night. Gorgeous scenery. Great area of million dollar highway.
Lots of activity! If you don’t want that it is slow and quiet during the week. Weekends was much busier with a lot of locals. Not our scene and we didn’t want kids around that. They have poured a ton of money in this campground but probably not quite enough staff to ensure safety and make sure the restrooms stay clean and stocked. Food was good. Great base camp for Durango area. Not much shade but one day it will be there!
This is a campground that you will extend or stay or wish you did! We love this place! Everything is so nice and clean and the owners and hosts are so nice! Teenagers enjoyed it a lot! This is our 2nd stay here and won’t be our last! Great base camp for Bryce, Zion and Grand Canyon. Use Gail with Rover for your pets. She is great. Houston’s-food so good!
We camped in Fern which we really enjoyed. Ample space at campsites. River view is beautiful. Fern is in front of the horse depot and train. In the summer I would imagine this is a high traffic area so Acorn and Cypress may be more desirable. The whole area is beautiful and relaxing or has plenty of activities if you choose. No Wifi but cell signal was good. Tent campgrounds were nice also. Lake pretty but we liked river views better. Staff very friendly but make sure and register all vehicles or get a ticket. Use the AllTrails app. Fantastic handicap sites!
Beautiful area! This campground is on a tall ridge so there is no walk out to the water. You can view the water from most sites though. We prefer the wooded area. We camped on Site 7 which was 3 asphalt parking spots wide which was nice to set up chairs on. It was near the bathhouse which we prefer but if you don’t use I would move on down towards 19 or 20. Don’t do site 8, it is next to dumpster and bright light from bathhouse. The sites on the circle at the edge also has beautiful views but I would not try and maneuver big rigs in there. Much smaller and not level. There were only people every few spots while we were there but even if it was filled there was plenty of space. The bathhouse were outdated but bathroom was clean. Shower room was traumatic for some with all the spiders. There is a nice deep sink with hot water for dish washing. We drove to the other loop and it was not as wooded but nice also. If you are wanting flatter site by the water Arlie Moore is probably better. We will stick with Iron Mountain.
We were here for overnight stay after not being able to find anything in Santa Fe. We typically don’t book KOA due to close campers and lots of kids. Host -Chris was very nice and helpful. Campsites were nice. Perfect for big rigs. Bathrooms were outdated but clean. It was perfect for what we needed and we appreciated the last minute booking!
Lovely Campground! Scenic views and very clean park! Bathrooms are cleaner than mine at home. Laundry Facilities nice. Great community outdoor kitchen area. Glamping tents looked nice and positioned for fantastic views. Owners were very nice and Bentley the cat was a friendly mascot! Great sleeping here!
We chose this area as a central location to Moab, Provo and SLC! Nice scenic drives to all of those places from camp and did not feel too far out. Campground was clean and well kept. Staff is very nice and helpful. It will be beautiful in a few years with the landscaping investment they have made. Plenty of individual showers. I recommend the ones at office building, they are bigger. Laundry facilities great. Huge plus is dish washing sink with hot water. It is always nice to not have to wash dishes in camper. Dog park, playground and splash pad. My only caution is that it is between Highway and railroad tracks so if you are noise sensitive be aware. We didn’t notice any major noise and slept very comfortably with the nice flowing River behind us. Helper is cute town to explore.
Nice campground with cabins and general store. A lot of hiking a bike trails. Boat and kayak rentals. The only negative is the lake is so slow. They need some rain. Still would make a fun stopover!
We can’t say enough good things about this campground. We extended our stay here we enjoyed it so much!
Peaceful, serene place to view Sunsets! Hosts are fantastic and provided us great information on the area. We rented a Roxor from them for the day to go to Bryce Canyon. This was so much fun. Shower rooms are the ultimate spa experience. Wifi worked great. Socials every Thursday evening with food and drinks on a great patio area with Cornhole and firepits. Dish washing sink with hot water was a huge plus! Washers and dryers were in great condition. We appreciated that the honor system is still around! Kids loved the zipline and dig area. Fenced area for your four legged family!
This campground was very nice. Sites good distance apart. The cons are there is a lot of day use visitors and you really need to like the sand to be here! Perfect for ATV fun.
Hidden in the middle of red rock canyon this campground was great! Late check-in greeted and led to site by security. Campground was quiet and peaceful. Woke up and saw the splendor of this place! Clean showers and there are plenty. Well kept grounds and great laundry room. They have signs up to wear masks but respected social distancing due to not having one. The drive here from New Mexico was just as beautiful!
Nice Location near the lake. Away from center city but close enough if you need something. Long and short term sites! We love nearby and plan to take our camper just for fun one night! The have an event center also for groups!
On the highway outside of town. Plenty of shade. Well manicured.
This is not camping! This is cramming an RV into a paved parking lot behind O’reillys. Looks more like where temporary workers would use.
Nice stop for other destinations. A little right and smaller. Close to Scenic byway by Boysen State Park. Wouldn’t recommend for longer stay as there are so many other fantastic campgrounds in this area.
Clean and well kept campground. River across from the highway. Close to the Scenic byway. Nice stopover in town.
There is nothing to complain about with this view! Nice traveling stop to Yellowstone area. Sites have plenty of room and are well manicured. Cute playground areas. It was not crowded. Vault toilets. This highway will show a little longer route to your destination but the views! Cons: the wind and near the highway but offset with river sounds.
This family owned and operated campground is located outside of the quaint town of Red Lodge and at the entrance to Beartooth Scenic Byway. At first glance you might not thing it is that great but tent sites give you a primitive feel and are right on the heavy flowing Rock Creek making sleeping nice. We had the only kids onsite but quickly found out from other campers this is a site that has repeat visitors and most were older travelers or bikers. Kids are welcome! The mosquitoes in the area can carry you away so prepare your campsite for that. The shower houses were so clean with plenty of hot water! This is a cash only campground! Our recommendations for the area are to spend one day driving Beartooth Scenic Byway and then crossover Chief Joseph Scenic Byway. Stop at the lookouts! We also went white water rafting with Adventure Whitewater! So fun! Bogarts has great food. Enjoy!
