Hiking for the day

So hiking is probably not a real description of this. Walking on grass trails that are flat and mowed is more like it. They have a very nice disc golf course and the "trails" are part of that system. Small camping area and lake access but we didn't use these.

Hiking

Have not stayed overnight here yet due to covid19 restrictions. But day pass use and hiking. Trails are mostly easy, some are completely flat and paved. One trail was nice, moderate difficulty and unpaved. Lots of history here but nothing was open for self guided tours yet. Nice fishing hole in front reservoir.

Great hiking trails

We have only used day passes for hiking here since covid19 restrictions took place. Very impressive trails and nice bathrooms. Easy lake access with boat ramp.

Nice park

We have stayed here several times with family, some in tents and some in pop up trailers. The bathrooms are old, Texas is supposed to be getting new bathrooms in all state park facilities but had not gotten to this one as of our last visit. Park is larger, best to do with bikes if possible. Limited lake access but good fishing spots abound. Tower to climb, trails to hike, firewood to burn…

Beautiful place

Older bathrooms last time we were here. But it's a really pretty place, lots of shade, lake access and boat ramp. Hiking, bird sanctuary, and devil's watering hole are top things to do, besides lake fun.

One of our favorite places

We have camped here in tents, pop up trailer, and hybrid travel trailer. We have been here with family, scouts, and just us. The park has fire damage in 2011 but there are still lots of trees and new bathrooms in Copperas Cove section. Great hiking. Pool is YMCA owned so pay per use or bring your Y membership cards. Traffic noise may be better now that Hwy 71 construction is completed. Easy access to HWY 21 and 71.

Nice park

Stayed here for a week over 4th of July, 2020 amid COVID19 restrictions. Lots of shade, though some sites are full sun. Great dog park: large, secure and shaded. Play ground, basketball, pool, family activities. Very clean restrooms. Good camp store with decent prices. Easy access to Omaha.
