Great for young families

This is such a serene park, lots of parking, trails to hike up to the heiau, beautiful open ocean to swim in, basketball court, bathrooms, a pavilion with outlets. Park manager comes through in the morning and night. Kids really enjoyed this location and we had no issues staying.

Great for hiking

Nice grassy area for tent, pond for watersports, pavilion for picnics, hiking nearby, shooting range and Chena Hot Springs nearby.

On the River

This is a tight campground, but it does have the river, cabins and a restaurant close by.  The campground offers wifi.

Great open beach areas

This has been an awesome place to dip in the river. We have seen wolves in this river spot which was quite scary but an experience all the same.

Magical Experience

Our family fell in love with Homer thanks to the beauty of this wonderful area. It certainly does help to have a playground nearby for the kiddos, and wildlife galore (there were moose near our campsite). It does get quite busy here and I believe that it is because of its location on the hill, blocked by the freezing breezes.

We will never forget hanging out on the playground with the kiddos. Our special moment was like a dream seeing the sun setting over an amazingly clear view of the Aleutian chain on the Pacific as a full moon rose over the glacier! Incredible!

Beautiful campground

This is the 1st campground my family and I stayed at Alaska. The Chena Lake is great! The beach area is great fun for all with grassy and sandy areas. There is a bunch of trails to hike around, paved biking trails, a basketball court, volleyball courts and of course a playground. There are some really cool camping spots along the river as well. Highly recommend to families!

Perfect riverside near town

Love, love this campground! My family and I camp here every year and its always so much fun. Between the river, grassy areas, playground, day use pavilions, little walking trails (sometimes with raspberries depending on the season) and stores nearby, this campground is convenient for families. You can find a barber, banks, grocery stores, restaurants, a bars, weed stores all within walking distance of the camping area. The campground is friendly and virtually pretty safe as Fairbanks is a great community so there has never been any problems with theft.

I worked at a restaurant in close proximity and this was a great medium during the summer. I had to transport my kiddos to summer camps at the University and this was 5 minutes away! Hope to see it reopen so we can spend some time here again!
