This campground sits right on a lake. Drop a kayak…very nice, clean, excellent sites. However, the noise from Seward highway echoes off the mountains so it's a bit noisy for a tent camper but very nice otherwise.
This campground is located at the very end of Hope Highway. It sits right on the Bay is often missed from Seward Highway as folks rush by. The village of Hope, AK is quaint. A popular campground with Alaskans. $18 a night at this writing.
This campground has nice size sites for RV's. If you are tent camping (I am), there's one pull in to 3 sites so you are close to strangers if your friends don't come. The toilets are clean but smell awful. One can also hear quite a bit of road noise and military aircraft all day because the campground is near both. Nice quick stop. $20 a site per day.
I fought a Badger twice a night for three nights. The Rangers are aware of the issue but obviously nothing has been done. The Badger I delt with was 20-25 pounds and nasty. It tried to get in my tent and my Clam Shelter. I cleaned up the beach of plastic worms and fishing line. The campsites are kept nice and the showers are very nice. It's a drive to get to the park.
The camp sites are nice and large. Spaced out for plenty of room. Sound carries like crazy so kids screaming and dogs barking can be disappointing. The bathrooms are well kept as well. The lake is beautiful and a easy walk around for exercise. No campfires allowed.
