Convenient and clean, nice park

We only stayed one night in a pull through but enjoyed the facilities. Park is very clean and has a good restaurant. They do have a lot of mobile homes but most are newer and well kept. Some RV’s look abandoned which is a shame. Nice dog park area with grass, could use water for the pups. Laundry and bathrooms were very clean. Pool area and restaurant, bar area is nice. We had dinner, wing’s were great burger was good but not great. Service was very good. Pull through site was narrow but had all we needed for one night. Looks like the workout facility is nice.

Not bad but…

Convenient location just off I-10. Had some great sunsets. Park facilities are clean but a little run down. It’s more of a mobile home park and RV park combined. Some permanent stationary mobile homes and some RV spots with lots of yard stuff that makes it look somewhat junky. Pull through sites are very close together but level enough with gravel and a patio pad with table and fire pit. Dog park is all dirt but large with fresh water. Laundry is $1.75 for a large load both washing and drying. Propane fill available. Workout room was minimal but kept cool. Cactus garden was nice.

Nice park

We only stayed one night but this was a convenient location or far off the highway. Bathroom was clean and staff was nice. Large clean dog park. Nice views of the city. Some sites back up to the view and they also behave a path and pier pit with a view. Looks like they are making improvements to the park.

Ok for one night

Basic RV park, clean and convenient off expressway. Staff was nice and we were escorted to our site. Site was gravel but fairly level. Bathroom and shower was clean. Two dog parks were clean.

Could use updates to some sites

We spend Thanksgiving in this campground. We arrived shortly after checkin and had limited selection of sites. The person at checkin did have a good site recommendation. Beware that not all sites have full hookups. For the size of the place I would have explained small convenience store but they only had ice. Our site backed up to some trees so that was nice. Good dog park and plenty of activities available. I walk the dog a lot and run and road around the grounds needs to be repaved, lots of pot holes and uneven areas.

Very cool place

We really enjoyed our stay at Mystic Quarry. The grounds are well kept and friendly. Lots of outdoor games and places to explore. Sites are a good size, some bigger than ours and mostly well drained. Our site 21 could use more gravel or mulch but most other sites look like they had new gravel and mulch added to them. Sites had trees and are nicely laid out, I would not want the sites at the front, may get too much traffic or noise if the place is crowded. These sites are close to the game/ pool area.
Some construction on the grounds, looks like they are adding more cabins and teepee sites. Wifi was not perfect but much better than most campgrounds. Bathroom and laundry was nothing special but clean. The laundry closest to us was closed but the main building had one. We used the dog park quite a bit and it was very clean. Water close by and fenced off nicely with two areas. Staff was friendly and helpful. Will definitely return. Close to tubing, marina, dam and hiking spots. Had lunch at Goofy’s directly in front of MQ, waitress forgot our order and took forever but the wings were good.

Easy highway access

Please note that they are currently (6/21/2020) under a boil water notice. No one mentioned this when we checked in and we did not realize until we were looking for the bathroom code. Also on importance that their is no code for the bathroom, it’s just locked from 9:00 pm to 9:00 am. They state due to Covid. Not sure why that would make a difference during the night and not during the day. Frustrating and inconvenient. I am changing my rating based on the early morning discovery.

Clean and looks fairly new. We were scheduled to have a back in site but none of them had much shade so we upgraded to a pull through which had a tree. Sites are medium size, level with tables and pads. Not much road noise although you are not far off the highway. Everything looked clean and well kept. Community room was closed due to Covid. Community fires are allowed but it was 100 so no one was starting one. Store closed early at 6:00 so we could not get ice that we had wanted. Not a bad place for one night. Not sure I would stay for more than that, not much to do. 25 minutes to Austin, which it was a little closer.

Nice place, very clean

Good access off the highway. Lots of shade in our spot and most others. Bathrooms and showers were very spacious and exceptionally clean. Site was plenty big enough with a gravel base that was level. Workout room and community area closed due to COVID-19. Dog area, playground and pool were well maintained. A very good stop over for one night.

Good location

The RV Park is about 20 minutes from the old town shops and restaurants so it’s a good location not far off the highway. Grocery is close and nice. Site was good, could have used leveling and more gravel (some sites better than ours). Privacy was good with trees and bushes between sites. We were thankful for the shade trees and fire pit. Picnic table was a little shabby. Pool was closed probably due to COVID-19? They have a store with a few items that was open 8-12 and 4:00-8:00. Laundry room needed cleaning and updating. The reason I can only give this place three stars is the condition of the bathroom and shower area. Needs a good deep cleaning (I recommend a power washer). It also needs updating and painting but if it was clean that would not matter so much. Bugs and hair on the floor and con webs in the stalls. The fan looked like it had never been cleaned. Walls and door definitely need paint. I would also recommend taking the bars off the windows and cleaning them to make it look more inviting. Wish I could give it a higher rating, it has potential.

Good location for hiking

I had thought the park would be crowded but due to COVID-19 it was not. Sites were good but ours was not very big, very tight to neighbors, some have much more space between. We did have a site that backed up to a wooded area so that was a bonus(row L). Lots of wildlife looking for water so watch your waist pump out hose, Ravines pecked holes in ours and we couldn’t find a replacement. Had to use hose tape to fix it. Good location if you like to hike the south rim, easy access to trails. Grocery store close but pricey. Clean bathroom but no shower or laundry.

Beautiful location

We spent three nights here and the location is wonderful. Beautiful views and friendly staff. We had a tree for shade which was very helpful. Close to everything. Grounds were well maintained but sights are not very large. We lucked out and had an end site with a tree. Would definitely go back.

Good location

Not too far off the highway and only about a mile and a half to a decent grocery store. Location is secluded and quiet. Staff was friendly and got us to our site quickly. We have a small RV which fit nicely into our spot but larger RVs were stacked close together as the space between sites was small. Looked like lots of sites had multiple vehicles so seamed crowded. RV sites are gravel with a little grass between. Not much shade and it was very hot in July. Could use some updates and additional spacing.
Tent sites were not being used but liked a little shadier and had trees between. Some small cabins available. Showers and bathroom was basic but clean.

Not what the pictures show on the Dyrt

This is a actually the location for the “Big Texan” RV ranch. Hot and dry in July with limited shade. Has two fenced in small areas for dogs. Laundry room was clean. Bathrooms were locked. Sites are almost all gravel with a little grass. There’s a music venue across the road that might be fun but it was not open. Not my favorite spot.

Good place for a one night stop

Park was clean and nice. Has some shade in most sites, some more than others. Restrooms were closed due to Covid but it looks like the pool is open. Spots are gravel with cement pads and picnic tables. Table we had was rough around the edges but manageable. Some road noise.

Really nice spot

We stained over New Years, beautiful little spot. Camp was very clean and had decent large bathrooms with a clean shower. Sites are large and well maintained, covered area was very nice and sturdy. Large amount of room between sites. No sewer hock up so we had to pump out. No fires they had a burn ban in effect but we were allowed to grill. Had a few visitors to the site. Would definitely stay again, very nice small RV park.

Beautiful landscape and gorgeous river

The park has sone beautiful hiking along the Frio river. We stayed in the sites with full hookup which seam to be newer with new restrooms not open at the time so we had a short walk to the visitor center bathroom which was minimal and not as clean as I would like. The sites with just water and electric were much shadier and beautiful. They also have tent camping, some with shelters. I believe cabins are also available. Checkin process was a little slow even though we had reservations, I suggest to them they should have a separate fast lane for those with reservations. The camp store and gift shop were very nice and well stocked with essentials. Fire wood was about $6 for a large bundle. Garner grill was not open.

Wonderful small campground!

Had a great stay at Boulderdash this past weekend. We had site #3 the smaller pull through. Space was great and clean, hookups were easy to access. We had a problem when we arrived getting electric but Paul came over and solved our problem (it was our converter which we did not need). Paul was very helpfulness and offered to be available if we needed anything. We enjoyed the grill in the common area down by the river which was a short steep walk from our site.
Lots of nice touches around the grounds and very clean. We did not use the shower but it was so nice to have the bathroom option.
Lots of activity on the river because it was a long weekend but really a great view from the property. We enjoyed the Bandara area, floated the river and horseback riding. Some nice shops in town but they could use a few nicer restaurants. The 11th street bar had great live music. We drove to Mac &. Earnie’s one day to find out they were closed for the holiday BBQ.
Don’t be bummed out by the other local residents, the area doesn’t look the best when driving in (lots of garbage) the campgrounds were very clean with nice touches (flower pots and painted rocks). We will be back!

Fun idea but could be so much better

The park is close to Marfa and a very convenient location just outside the town, close to the road (good and bad). Close to the train but what isn’t in Marfa. The train only comes through a few times a day and was not an issue for us.
We arrived to find our name on the board and information about check in. Our assigned site was #6, a horrible site that really only had grass behind the hookups so you would always be walking around the trailer to get to the grass area. We called and texted the two numbers available and then moved to a spot that was not reserved (#4) which had a small tree and a very old and damaged picnic table which cost us an extra $20 (worth it but really for a tree and a bad table).
The surrounding sites did not have much shade and only a few had trees and I don’t remember seeing any other tables. Lots of ants everywhere but I i am not sure if anything could be done about that.
The bathrooms were very clean and functioned properly. The washer and dryer were a nice addition and asked only for $3 for using them which was reasonable. The kitchen area really needs some cleanup, looked like no one had used it or cleaned it in months, dishes in the kink and piled in the drainer, kind of a mess all over. The common fire pit was grown over with weeds and not very inviting.
This place could be so much more with a little TLC and cleaning.

Great for a quick stop.

We stoped here driving from Houston to Marfa. Great location, close to the highway for easy access. That said, it is close to the highway so road noise is present.

Very clean bathroom and the pool looked nice ( we did not test it out). Staff called to see what time we were arriving and left instructions as we arrived after 6:00.

Site was clean and had a picnic table and a tree for shade. Hookup was easy and all went well.

Would stay again if we travel this way.
