Full Hook ups, Groomed Spots, Pull Through

Was a little surprised that when we pulled in the sign said RV campground and mobile home park, but the two are in separate parts so it wasn't weird.

Very friendly front office. The host saw us pull after hours and came and met us to help out.

Perfect overnight stop for a quick on and off sleep on our way back to Michigan from Glacier National Park. The site was perfectly level and with full hook-ups for$42 a night! We were able to stay hooked up to our truck to make the exit in the morning speedy.

Hmm... Can't be summarized, read the review

Upon pulling into the Alpine Campground after hours,  we were approached by an elderly women while looking at the board for after hours check in protocol.  Inga, who was the owner, had my husband go into the office which had hanging taxidermy mounts all over as well has "stuff" she has been hoarding.  If this campground cost less and had a working bathhouse, I would have given it higher stars. It was $38 for 2 adults, 2 kids electric and water hook up.   (FYI cash only).

Once we paid she found her missing golf cart and drove it like a maniac!   She literally almost hit out truck twice.  She hit the gas instead of the break and swerved to miss us.  She drove it pedal to the metal in circles trying to find our spot in the empty grassy field behind their house.  When she finally decided upon our spot, she drove around again and literally almost hit our truck.  I am so thankful that she didn't because I can't even imagine what would have happened to her if she did going as fast as she was and her age.  Her son, who apparently works there, needs to take the keys from her!  She was a very kind women, but for her safety and sanity she needs help running the place or to sell it!

The cost was overpriced for what we received.  We were told the toilets didn't work because there was a piece on order for over 2 weeks, the sinks weren't working so we couldn't use those either, but you could get a hot shower for a $0.25. She also asked that we not use the sanitary dumping station unless we really had too. The garbage was overflowing and in desperate need of pick up.  You could save this campground was mosquito heaven.  My son had 9 mosquito bites on his back when he woke up the next morning.  We were barely outside because this was just a quick overnight stop on our way home.  Mosquitos are part of nature so that isn't a complaint just an observation for future campers- bring mosquito spray!

We were happy to pull out the next morning and be on our way.   We wouldn't chose this campground again, nor the city campground in Ironwood we passed on that landed up as Alpine.  There is another up the road a mile or two we should have considered.

This spot could be a real gem with a little bit of money and work.  Someone please help Inga out!!

Ehh- keep looking for another campground

This campground was a big disappointment for us.  If nothing else is available then that’s the only way I’d pick this again.

The campground wasn’t anywhere near full but they had a bunch of us campers shoved in the horseshoe section literally on top of each other. We had difficulty back into the site due to the fact the neighbors truck were all park on the road.  We couldn’t even open out blinds because of privacy issues. The sites were so close together.  It was worse than being at an RV park where you expect to be neighbor upon neighbor. These sites are in the woods but don’t let that fool you into thinking you’ll have the out in the woods feeling. The site was so slanted and out of level that our leveling blocks couldn't correct it.

The bathhouse was dated, the mens showers had a very awkward community type shower.Wouldn’t stay here again. There are many, many other campgrounds- keep searching and chose a different one- unless you can’t because they are all booked.

Should be 5 stars but the sanitary dump wasn't working without a heads up

What beautiful views and an awesome spot to stay.  We had fantastic fishing in the lake. The sites are maintained well and very neat. It was one of the nicest campground we've ever stayed.  The showers were spacious and very clean.

A BIG issue for us was we were given no heads up that their sanitary station wasn’t working.  We made reservations back in January and nothing was on the website.  They really should have followed up with emails or even phone calls!   We weren't even told when we checked in either.  With an issue this bad, there should have been some communication and a discounted price since the dump wasn't available to use.   We had to back track 40 minutes into West Yellowstone and pay to dump at the Grizzly RV Campground before heading north to Glacier.

Fantastic Location in the Woods

We loved how quiet and in the woods Canyon Campground was for us!   The site was very slanted and not level which still couldn't be corrected with our leveling blocks on our asphalt pads, but the experience of being in the park was well worth that strange feeling of walking crooked!   The showers were closed due to Covid and we were reimbursed some of our registration fee because of it. Not sure how showering spreads void but using a toilet doesn't….  I think the real reason was that they were lacking the manpower to keep things clean.

We had some truck problems one day and had to have it worked on at the auto shop across from Canyon Village. They were quick and worked hard to get it done for us in one day.  The day we were stuck at "base camp" we were able to walk into the village and hike some of the trails that were close by.  The campground is in the woods, but still have everything within walking distance!

Would stay here again!

Nice Spot for the South Entrance

The park was ok.  We had a nice spot in Loop D with the Gros Ventre River right behind us.  Definite Moose presence there as well!   We saw 3 adult Moose and 1 young moose with it's mom.

The site itself was nice, but very tight!  Piles of tree trimmings on the sides of the road and the sites made it difficult to fit our travel trailer and truck in our spot.  It would have been nice if they hauled out the piles of down trees and branches, but even without the branches the sites are quite small for trailer and tow vehicle.  We had reservations for a site that our trailer definitely should have fit in so I’d size up your site just to have a spot to fit parking your truck.

Water and Dump station were easy to get to and use.

Shocking at First, but pleasant when you get to the Office!

Oh boy, When we pulled in my jaw did drop. I thought we had arrived in Mobile Home park for the night, but don’t let that scare you away. Keeping driving in to the campground check in. The sites were nice and level, but the hook-ups were in the middle of the site so make sure you have a long enough hose. The owner and workers were all very friendly and helpful. It was a quiet little place and an easy stopping point between MT Rushmore and Yellowstone’s Canyon Campground for us.  One frustrating thing for us is that they sprayed for Mosquitoes between 10:30 PM and 11:00 PM (midnight to our eastern time zone bodies) which was loud. Also, didn't like waking up to the chemicals that we sprayed all over our truck and camper…. With a little more planning they could have scheduled the spray before the season….  But this was not enough to scare us away in the future.  We would stay here again and recommend it for others!

Front of the campground needs a bit of work.

For the price of the stay I was expecting a bit nicer site, but the back of the campground may be laid out nicer that then very front where we were placed. They had us use two spaces in section B which made the the water and sewer hook-ups awkward to hook up due to the neighbors hooking up on the sections that would have worked for us. All in all it was fine for a quick overnight stay for us as we were only stopping in at Mt Rushmore on our way out to Yellowstone/ Tetons.

Quiet, Level Spacious

This campground was a nice and easy stop on our way from Michigan to Mt Rushmore/ Badlands. The sites were level enough that we didn’t even half to unhook our trailer for our quick overnight stay. The only issue I will say is that our site was next to the “Stinky Waste” Water Lagoon and it did stink pretty bad when they started up the pump in the morning.

Not sure about the bathhouse since we didn't have to use them.
