I’ve been here a few times but just now writing a review. Every time I go, it’s always clean and quiet. Great place to just relax and have base camp to many hikes in the area. It is also within 5 minutes to Brevard and breweries in the area.
I stayed up on the ridge right before the campground but after passing over the river. Very quiet and secluded and very rarely do you see a car pass by. The downside is there are no toilets unless you visit the compost toilet at the physical campground area. This isn’t a big deal as I would travel in to town after my daily hikes for a visit at a local brewery. If you had to go in the middle of the night though, you may be in a difficult position. There is also a trail from the site directly down to the river which is a plus. Overall great spot!
This campground was great! The sites were very clean and nestled perfectly in the woods but there are some downsides… The traffic noise is very loud. If you’re wanting a relaxing weekend in the woods, this isn’t the place to do it. The road noise is very loud and doesn’t really calm down until 9pm or so. Also, the bathrooms weren’t the cleanest but if you’re a backpacker or just a outdoorsmen, just having a bathroom or toilet is a plus compared to squatting behind a tree. Overall this campground was great and I’ll definitely be back….but not if I want a quiet weekend away.
Very awesome campground! It’s secluded, quiet, and sits right off the river. It’s also very close to town in case you need anything.
I have been to Devils Fork state park many of times and it never disappoints. The park is not overly big and has lots to do and places to enjoy.
I stayed in primitive tent site 10 but all of these primitive sites are great! Well kept and spacious. Some sites have a decent walk in distance but others are close to the parking areas. There’s water points to get fresh water if needed throughout the site areas. Definitely will stay here often when “car” camping instead of backpacking.
I’ve been going to Oconee State Park since I was a kid and have always enjoyed it. It is very family friendly and great for kids. Several trails to hike and lots of history at the park. The only negatives is the park is not a great park for a getaway in my opinion. It’s more focused on the family time (nothing wrong with that) and the sites are very very close together. I stayed at tent site 12 and it was great but was a very far hike in. Not a bad thing but wasn’t planning on backpacking on this particular trip. Overall a great park and will always go back!
Campgrounds were easy to access on gravel and paved roads. Quiet and secluded but other campers are around. There are toilet facilities but can’t remember if there was a water tap. Sites are close to a few trails and close to a nice iron bridge crossing the Chattooga River. Definitely recommend checking these sites out.
The tent sites are probably the best tent sites I’ve camped at. Spaced out and the pad area is great. They all have good tree coverage and are somewhat secluded.
This campground won’t blow you away or anything but it’s a good campground that you’ll enjoy. Nice wooded coverage, walking and hiking trails, plus a few lakes to fish. Bath houses are probably the cleanest I’ve seen in all the campgrounds I’ve been too. The only reason I wouldn’t give it 5 stars is because the sites are pretty close to each other and you can hear aircraft traffic from the airport close by. I recommend sites 22,23,25 if you are tent camping.
