Decent Choice for a Family to Camp/Swim

Came here with family and friends, and we were all able to fit into one spot! We had two tents and a travel trailer between us. Plenty of room and its a great setting. There's a dock and swimming area, as you can imagine it was packed with kids. We chose to go down the road and explore other watering holes. Nice that Cascara is close to so much to explore.  Found a place to dip into the water, to shoot, and exploring the forest roads was a fun afternoon in general. Lots of places to pull off to chill out.

Sites are decently taken care of, pretty basic setup. Not much privacy at all between spots, though there were a couple larger ones on the edge of the loop that were tucked in away from others. The vault toilets on a busy weekend are a nightmare. If there's one group that's loud, the whole camp will be victim to their conversations all night, sound carries.

Great for First Time Dispersed Camping

Went with my partner and our dog, it was her first time camping without any facilities and this spot worked out great. We use Verizon and were able to consistently get 1-2 bars. No water or vault toilets, only by the day-use area/trailhead.

We camped on SW Steelhead Falls Dr. In June 2022, the gate to access the camping area was closed from the Steelhead Falls side, but you can go around to SW Folley Waters Dr to access the sites. First come first serve, primitive and private. Felt like we were the only ones there.

Note that this is closer to civilization than I expected. Folks living nearby walk their dogs and occasionally drive through here throughout the day. The terrain is dusty and it gets hot, no fires or open flames allowed. The wind comes through often and that helps with the heat, but will kick up dust.

This is definitely a spot that we plan to come back to. First day it was 101 degrees, but then cooled down to the upper 80s for the rest of our stay. The views of the water and surrounding rock formations are incredible.

Perfect for Group Camping

Booked via Recreation.gov and had a lakeside tent spot. Spots 37-38 if reserved together would be perfect for a larger group, plenty of room for multiple tents.

The campground was very quiet at night, lots of kids and dogs during the day. This is very much a family-oriented place to spend time. Easy access to the water and there are facilities tucked away throughout - clean vault toilets, trash bins, etc.

I was able to get 1-2 bars via Verizon. When I visited in May there was rain on/off. Bring bug spray - quite a bit of gnats and mosquitos. The host is onsite and nice, looks like they really keep up the grounds.
