Zion’s beauty is unmatched. It is too busy but has great facilities. Most of the campers and hikers are inexperienced and not prepared. But damn is it beautiful
This spot has some amazing beauty to it. You are steps away from the river. They are huge campsites that can fit a large group. Great spot to enjoy the beauty of Dinosaur National Monument
Minutes away from lots of activities. This campground is secluded in Ashley National Forest with tons to do. From hiking to fishing to playing in the Gorge you’ll enjoy this location day and night. The night sky was amazing for meteor showers.
I like this place in terms of location/proximity around Flaming Gorge. I feel like the campsites are a little too close to each other. Bathrooms are super clean and well kept. Super easy to find.
Really great place not far from Los Angeles. Perfect place for a quick getaway out of the city. Close to hikes and much more. Beautifully placed in a juniper forest. They have glamping sites with comfortable beds and much needed privacy. Clean toilet at top of site and propane fire pits. Also if you get a chance to meet the hosts Adrian and Jane your in for a real treat. Enjoy the high desert and get out there.
This place is great. Its about halfway between LA and Vegas and only 10 minutes off the 15. I arrived close to 1AM on a Friday and didn't have any trouble getting a prime spot. I originally was planning my trip to a different campground but that was full by the time I got there. Afton Canyon was within an hours drive from my original spot and I had it saved as a place I wanted to go on the The Dyrt. We took a chance at midnight and how fruitful it was. 10 minutes off the 15 lies a small campground tucked behind a beautiful trestle. Some trains come by at night and look amazing. The noise from the trains are actually quite soothing. It is located in one of the only areas where the Mojave River is above ground and is close the Mojave 4x4 Off-road trail. There are some great hikes nearby and beautiful views. The campsites have shaded structures grills and big fire pits. Afton Canyon will now be another go to site for me.
Probably the easiest campground to get to in Joshua Tree. It has some really cool sites but most seem to be stacked on top of each other for Joshua Tree. It's close to some really cool hikes like the dam, the mill and the mine. I love Joshua Tree and all it has to offer but this isn't my top choice to stay in Joshua Tree.
I love the campground itself. The whole area is beautiful. Easy escape out of LA. It was pretty much empt during the week. Love that it is first come first serve. sleeping with a completely open tent and viewing the night sky was amazing. Moon lit the entire mountain up.
Cons: Lots of flies. Toilets were unbearable with the amount of flies. Rustic is the way to go.
This is a great place at the beginning of summer when the water levels are high. There is a small creek to camp along and tube down when the river is flowing. It gets very crowded here so get there early. It is first come first serve for tents. RVs can make reservations. Overall I always enjoy myself but can't stand dealing with some of the crowds.
I like this campground. There are some cool hikes to the dunes and to the beach. Go to the wharf near by to pick up some live crab to boil over the fire. Overall a great campground for adults and kids. Go with a group or a romantic getaway. Experience northern California Coast and see where they filmed Hitchcock's "The Birds."
If you live in the Temecula, Murrieta, Lake Elsinore area this is the perfect campground for a quick and easy getaway. They have some beautiful sites and some good hikes. Great place for mountain biking and just an overall fun place. If you are looking for a quick trip into the nature look no further.
I've stayed her many times. There are plenty of campsites to choose from. The biggest problem is now you must reserve you space. It used to be first come first serve and I could alway find a spot. The views are stunning and the hikes bring you from one vista to another. Most sites seem pretty secluded to and from your neighbor. I like to get two sites next to each other for total privacy. There is nothing better than the night sky at Jumbo Rocks.
