Nice Biker/hiker sites

In August 2019 we rode from Seattle to Santa Barbara, staying most night in hiker/biker sites. Elk Prairie was our first campground in Redwood National State Parks. Biker/hiker sites were nice, picnic tables and bear boxes but was missing the USB charging station we had found in most Oregon state park. We did not see any elks during our short stay(one night) here but had seen quite a few on our way there just before entering Redwood National State Parks. From the campground you can get to some very nice(not technical) hiking trails that will allow to appreciate and the huge trees found here.

Great Biker/hiker sites

In August 2019 we rode from Seattle to Santa Barbara, staying most night in hiker/biker sites. We were quite impressed with Oregon State Park campground, many of them offering storage boxes with USB charging station and free showers for about 8$ per sites. This campground was probably the one we preferred, having many biker/hiker sites, each of them with their own tables and fire pits and enough privacy between each site.

Very nice Hiker/biker sites

We camp here a few times, the last time in August 2021 during a self-supported bike tour around the Olympic Peninsula. The biker/hiker sites are quite nice, isolated from regular campsites but if sharing with other bikers/hikers you won’t get much privacy and may need to share tables or fire pits. If coming from Seattle you may enjoy riding on Olympic Discovery Trail. The campground has nice restroom with hot shower, which was quite appreciated after a long day on the bike.

Good luck finding a spot

We stopped here during a bike camping trip around the Olympic Peninsula. Reservation was not possible for this small campground but planning to get there early on a Monday we thought we would be ok. We were not. The campground is really nice but because all sites are FC/FS and only require having a discover pass the likelihood of being able to get a spot during the summer is not good.

Nice but small site

We spent a night there during a bike camping trip around the Olympic Peninsula. We had not made a reservation hoping to get a walk-in site but all of them were occupied. We lucked out and got a tent site for a no-show reservation with the help of the camp host. The site was small but quite nice, just by a stream and close to the lake. I would go back but make sure we have a reservation.

Not so nice biker/hiker sites

We spent a night there during a bike camping trip around the Olympic Peninsula. Before finding our site, we rode around the campground and most sites looked quite nice. But the biker/hiker sites are located on the other side off highway 106 and not as nice. We had a nice view of the water from our site but were exposed to the wind and could hear traffic noise all day. I would go back but would avoid the hiker/biker sites and try to get a standard site as far as possible from the highway.

Was very nice in October

The description of this campground provided in the “About this campground” is quite accurate.  From the campground you can do boat activities or hiking.  We also did a very nice long bike from the campground but for some sections of it we had to share the road with fast car traffic.  While you will need to drive there it also makes it a nice base from which you visit Grand Coulee Dam. We went there at the beginning of October and the weather was quite nice. It would probably be too hot for us during the summer.

Very nice biker/hiker/kayaker sites

We camped here during a 3 days bike camping trips. The camping has a few biker-hikers and marine sites that can’t be reserved and are FCFS. We went with another couple and got lucky because nobody else was there so could pick the best spots. The host were amazing, did show us where we could camp when we showed up in the campground on our bicycles and even brought fire woods to our sites. I would go back.

Would love to go back

We camped there doing a guided kayak 3 days trip from Friday Harbor in June of 2022. Weather had been iffy the prior few days but we end up being lucky and had close to perfect weather for our short trip. We camped on the north east side of the island, next the marina, to be protected from the heavy wind that was coming from the west that weekend.

First time here but we will be back

This was a last-minute reservation in August and I am quite sure that we just got lucky and grab a reservation that had just been cancelled. All sites look nice but we probably get one of the nicest, just next to the river(#46). Many options of hikes are available close to the campground but we opted for a nice bike ride to Roslyn and back.

Yakima River Canyon Campgrounds (Umtanum, Lmuma Creek, Big Pines, Roza)

Yakima River Canyon Campgrounds offer 4 options to choose from, each of them a few miles apart. The other 3 options are quite small with only about 6 sites each, and Big Pines about 40 sites. All of them have vault toilets and NONE OF THEM HAVE WATER. We spend a weekend at Big Pines in September and really enjoyed our stay. The campground was quiet, many campers leaving during the day to go hiking or spend time on the river boating and/or fishing. We rode our bicycle on Canyon Road which at this time of the year was not busy. At 15$ per night or 7.50$ if you have the senior discount there is not much you can complain about. We plan in going back.

Some reviews mentioned the train waking them during the night. With that in mind we did bring ear plug and did hear any in our small trailer.

One of the nicest campgrounds close to Seattle

We used to camp here way backs when the kids where much younger. We last went in August with our kids and grand kid. We had found 2 sites(64& 65) that end-up being perfect for us. There is not much separating those 2 sites so would have not been has nice if we had not known our neighbors. Also, by pure lock, those 2 sites end up very close to what maybe the only flush toilets on the campground; most are vault toilets. We loved our short stay here and will come back for sure.

Very nice family campground

We were greeted at the entrance by 2 gentlemen that showered up on golf carts, showed us our way to our site and even guide us when backing to our site. We were driving an electric car(Tesla) and were told that we could use the 30 amp to recharge it at no extra costs. At less than 40$ for a site with 30 amp this was a steal compare to what we paid at other campgrounds.

Very nice family campground

Lots of amenities including pool, bathrooms, hot showers, fire pits with free wood and free access to canoes. The sites are small and close together but being at different levels you get some privacy. Giant pines also provided shades that was quite welcome.

One of the reason we spent some time there was to ride on "Trail of Coeur D'Alene".  The trail was not close enough to ride from the campground but could be reach by car in about 20 minutes.

Great location to visit Yellowstone

This campground did not have as much functionalities has"Canyon CG" but was still quite nice and closer to"Old Faithful" and"Grand Prismatic Spring". Traveling with our electric car, the fact the campground was close(~15 miles) from Tesla West Yellowstone supercharger was a plus.

Perfect central location to visit Yellowstone

This is probably the nicest national park campground we have been too so far. Sites were large and with good tree coverage provided shade and some privacy. Each loop has restroom and dish was station and each site has its own bear box. The main building can be further away but has laundry and showers. This is the perfect place from where to visit the "Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone" but it could also be use as your base to visit all or most of Yellowstone.

Nice campground close to Jackson and entrance to park

We choose this campground vs other Grand Teton campgrounds because of its location[closer to Jackson] but also expecting to see wild animals. We did not see any wild animals in the campground but saw antelopes while driving Mormon Row and some moose while doing a bike ride from the campground. For those interested in biking, Grand Teton State Park has great bike trails. If looking for a quiet place to spend a few days this is a very good option.

Nice Journey KOA

There are 2 KOA in this small city. The other KOA is closer to the main street and would probably be a better choice if planning to spend a few days but if like us you are just looking for a nice spot to spend the night this is a good option.

Nice location to visit the city.

Large amount of mature trees provide a nice canopy of shade. Spots are very close together. Lots of amenities: large pool, hot tub, clean bathrooms, showers, dog park, laundry.

Beautiful campground with great amenities.

We were on loop D, where like in lopp C and the Group Loop trees had been removed due to a pine beetle epidemic. This provided beautiful views of the mountains but no shade. Site are specious but because of the lack of trees did not provice much privacy. There were no hookups and no cell service(Verizon/XFinity) Bathrooms were clean with flush toilets, sinks, and outdoor sink. They also have well organized installations where you can use your own portable shower. This is a great base camp for exploring the park and even do hikes from the campground.
