Good job WI DNR! We stay on the backwaters of the North campground every summer. Easy kayaking in the backwaters, miles of flat bike trail connected to the park. Boat ramp on to the Chippewa for anglers. Nightly raccoon and owl entertainment, when you can walk away from the campfire and it's so dark you can't see your hand in front of your face. Almost all sites are decent. Facilities are good. Lots to do.
Have not camped here but drove through a couple times. No thanks. It's a county Park where the county obviously doesn't invest much $$ into. It is on a river though, where there is some kind of tubing set up.
This campground gets 5 stars for it's locale alone. Great trails, beutiful rivers and cliffs, and the wonders of the potholes (not the kind you're thinking of). The 2 campgrounds are polar situations. Non-electric loop is quiet and enclosed. The power loop runs right along a 4-lane highway, which you can't really see but for sure will hear. Facilities are mediocre, but passable.
Many sites are placed on on incline. They got the sites are pretty flat, but it's still on a hill. Not a whole lot to do at the campground. Trails are in poor shape.
