About 12 sites near the Big meadow trailhead. they fill fast! no water, but pit toilet, garbage, fire rings and tables
OK, my weekends are usually Tuesday, Wed, &Thurs, so I have less issues with crowds than others do. I've been here twice, the first time didn't see a soul. The 2nd time a couple rode through on their horses. It looks like it gets some use on the weekends.
It's about a 6 mile ride up a dirt road, it's about 20 degrees cooler than the area. no bugs!
the road is washed out so there are some "new" campsites, no water, no toilets. no table etc
there is good fishing' at silver lake, but the highlight of camping here is the potholes.The river carved some unusual holes in the granite. great escape from the heat

One of my favorite summer spots, great Access to the American River. Site has pit toilets, fire rings, tables and bear lockers(have seen several bears)
