We stayed a Friday night in late July. Got a FF site at 3 PM and the place never filled. There are two campgrounds (east & west). The eastern one seemed nicer with more access to River.
Loads of trees and shade - hard to get solar power going. One water spigot near host and nice vault toilets throughout.
Overall very quiet and natural. There is a train across the River that come thru several times a day for a few minutes each pass but not at night. Some nice folks and hosts were great.
We’re heading north from Boise and needed a place to crash for the night. This was convenient so we booked it and we’re happily surprised when we arrived. Friendly greeting from the owners & hosts, quiet and shaded spot right overlooking the Salmon River(we were in #18) with water and power hookup and a very clean bathroom, shower, washer & drier, ice, grill & outdoor area to hang out.
Very limited road boise and the shade trees were plentiful & lovely.
Wish we could have stayed a few more days….
We came through RRC in early May, 2021. Weather can be unpredictable but it was super hot and very windy.
FYI - Google maps tried to bring us to a non-spot a few miles southwest of the actual site.
RRC is an interesting spot - fairly well spread out along a single road which was fairly busy and dusty. Lots of clean toilets. Single road through campsite so it We stayed in 36 which was right across from one and was the most private of the sites, perfect for our Sprinter.
Some decent hiking around the Red Rocks, and looks like a great place for 4-wheeling and dirt bike riding which a lot of folks were doing.
We are working out way north through CA and Horse Creek was in a convenient spot. Site very clean and well managed and overall its a pretty spot. Only 2-3 large and dispersed bath rooms. A number of large groups around the site which looks fun but it felt more like an urban park than being in nature.
We were headed south in Winnemucca was a good overnight spot. Water canyon is well described in the other reviews, it is maybe 15 minutes off route 95/80.
There are two bathrooms and the campground is a long single road. Spots three and eight are proximal to the bathrooms. We were in spot five and it was a 10 minute walk to either bathroom. Not a problem but if being close to the bathroom is important, this is good info.
VMCG was recommended by a friend as we were passing through Monterey. We really enjoyed it’s location, nice facilities and friendly host, and appreciated the hike up the stairs right next to the campground. Wonderful place to stay for a night, or even a few days if you’re exploring the Monterey and Carmel area.
We wanted to get away from the late July masses in Tetons & Yellowstone and just started heading East. Dyrt alerted us to The Falls and we were so thankful - ended up staying 2 nights. Wonderful spot - super well built & kept w helpful Hosts.
Beautiful wild flowers and a million playful ground squirrels to keep us entertained. Lots of firewood to collect & beautiful night skies.
The A loop even has electricity & a smidge of AT&T coverage. We stayed in A18. The Falls themselves are worth seeing and there’s a nice hike past them and to the rim of the valleys to the East.
Worth the hilly but lovely drive East from the Tetons. And the view headed West at Tewogtee Lodge/Pass is stunning.
